Reviews(1)
This is two reviews in one: the first for the tour company, Roots in Rome; the second for the Castel Sant Angelo. The tour company, Roots in Rome, was terrible, terrible, terrible. Here's why: we booked the tour for a Sunday morning; the night before the tour they messaged us and said there was a change and we had to do the afternoon tour instead. Okay, we thought, maybe something happened with the guide or whatever, we were flexible and made it work. The meeting point was supposed to be by the bridge in front of the Castel at 1:00 pm, we waited, and waited. No one ever showed up. I messaged the tour company and he said, Oh, there is no guide, you just show your ticket and go in. Then why say there's a meeting point? And if there is no guide, why did you change the time on us? Did you forget to buy the tickets in advance? The tour company rep also said they included the audio guide at no charge; that would have been nice to know ahead of time since we didn't bring our airbuds or headphones. And, he didn't even send us the tickets on time, just the voucher, I had to request the tickets from him. And when he did send them he sent them for an hour later than the time we were told. Very frustrating. This tour did not start out well. Fortunately, touring the Castel was incredible. Since we weren't able to use the audio guides we just "winged it" but that worked fine since the displays were well-captioned. The views of Rome from the top were awesome and the art and historical displays were quite pleasing to view. We spent a good hour wandering around the different passageways and up and down the stairs. We're really glad we visited the Castel but vowed to never work with Roots in Rome again. In fact, there was a line that wasn't long waiting to get into the Castel, I would suggest cutting out the middleman and instead get into the short line!
