Itinerary
At Castel Sant’Angelo, we provide a comprehensive explanation of its history and significance. We discuss the executions that took place there, shedding light on its role as a prison and place of punishment. We also cover the fortified corridor, the Passetto di Borgo, which connects the castle to the Vatican, highlighting its importance as an escape route for popes in times of danger. Additionally, we examine the Tiber River, which has played a crucial role in Rome’s defense and development. Finally, we explore the story of Saint Michael the Archangel, whose apparition atop the castle in 590 AD signaled the end of a devastating plague, giving the fortress its name.
Via Giulia, one of Rome’s most elegant and historic streets, was designed by Pope Julius II in the early 16th century to create a direct route through the city. Lined with Renaissance palaces, churches, and hidden courtyards, it remains a picturesque example of Rome’s urban transformation during the Renaissance.
Piazza Farnese is a beautiful and historic square in Rome, best known for Palazzo Farnese, a grand Renaissance palace designed by famous architects like Michelangelo. The square also has two large fountains made from ancient Roman bathtubs, giving it a unique and elegant look.
Piazza del Biscione is a small, hidden square near Campo de’ Fiori, known for its old-world charm and quiet atmosphere. It is home to the ancient Passetto del Biscione, a covered passageway with remnants of medieval frescoes, adding to its mysterious and historic character.
Campo de’ Fiori is a lively square in Rome, known for its daily market selling fresh produce, flowers, and local goods. At night, it becomes a popular spot for restaurants and bars, with the statue of philosopher Giordano Bruno standing at its center as a reminder of its darker history.

Emilie was absolutely amazing on our Rome After Dark tour! She was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and made the history of Rome come alive in such a fun and memorable way. You can truly tell she loves what she does. She answered every question with so much detail and made the whole experience feel personal rather than just another tour. Seeing Rome lit up at night while hearing all the stories and hidden history was unforgettable. Highly recommend asking for Emilie if you get the chance.
Booked the “Rome After Dark” tour with Sevada, and had a wonderful experience. She is as knowledgeable about the history of Rome as she is funny and engaging! Would highly recommend as a relaxed late night activity. Also includes great views of historical buildings/statues around the city center!
Thank you
Booked this tour while studying abroad on a whim with a friend. Sevada is as knowledgeable about Rome’s history as she is funny and engaging! Amazing tour if you are looking for a relaxed late night experience. Both spooky and fun, with stops at some beautiful historical points around the city center.
Absolutely loved this little tour, Our tour guide was Sevada, she was a wealth of knowledge that you don’t hear about. You don’t walk far and you see bits that you just miss on your own. Sevada even got us in to a restaurant to see an absolute gem, that you would otherwise 100% miss on your own. I really wish this went on for longer.
Emily was amazing! We had a great time and enjoyed learning some history of Rome that was not your everyday history. It was so interesting to learn about places that you would never know had a dark past. Highly recommend. Emily is very sweet and kind.
This was a great tour. It was refreshing that it wasn’t for hours and it covered a small area by foot (as we were shattered from walking all day) however it was fantastic! The stories that were told, the ones you don’t hear about! The secret spots that books don’t mention. Emilie was our guide, she was great and very knowledgeable. If you want something a bit different that gives you a glimpse of how life was this is the thing to do! It’s also a great evening activity that breaks up the night! Definitely recommend.
This tour gives you the intriguing and obscure stories of Rome’s history. Learn about the lesser known events and people from deep in Rome’s past …so so interesting and enlightening. Emily was awesome! Highly recommended! Would do it again! Lots of info in 90 minutes…:)
