Chellah is a medieval fortified Muslim necropolis and ancient archeological site in Rabat. The earliest evidence of the site's occupation suggests that the Phoenicians established a trading emporium here in the first millennium BC.[3][4] This was later the site of Sala Colonia, an ancient Roman colony in the province of Mauretania Tingitana,[5] before it was abandoned in Late Antiquity.[6] In the late 13th century the site began to be used as a dynastic necropolis for the Marinid dynasty. By the mid-14th century Marinid sultans had enclosed a part of the site with a new set of walls and built a religious complex inside it to accompany their mausoleums.[7] In the 15th century the necropolis began to decline and it suffered damage over the centuries due to earthquakes and looting. Archeological excavations in the 20th century unearthed the remains of the ancient Roman town. Today the site is a tourist attraction and since 2012 it forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Very good tour, friendly and knowledgeable driver Tarik and the guide Ilyas was amazing as well. Tarik met us exactly were we expected him to be with our name sign. The drive from Casablanca to Rabat was good and Tarik told us all about everything there was to see. In Rabat we met our guide Ilyas who showed us all the highlights of this beautiful city. Ilyas is fluent in english and told us everything we wanted to know and some more. Both were very flexible if we wanted to divert from the planned tour. 100% recommended.
Ismail our driver was very respectful, accommodating, knowledgeable and took great care of us. He went the above and beyond to ensure that we saw the places we needed to. I would greatly recommend him for any tour. Rasheed our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had detailed knowledge of the various places in Rabat. He answered all our questions and was a wealth of knowledge. He was kind and considerate. I would greatly recommend him for any tour in Morocco. Thahir & Shareena.
Amazing tour! We were paired with Ibrahim as our tour guide and Ismail as our driver and they were phenomenal! Ibrahim was so knowledgeable! I am a frequent traveler and he was one of the best tour guides I’ve had. Great communicator and wonderful personality. He is a star. Our driver Ismail was also fantastic and accommodated us. This tour exceeded all expectations!
The tour we took to Rabat was fabulous! Our driver and our guide were both entertaining and catered to our wishes. We loved seeing the Hassan II Mausoleum and the stunning city of Rabat. If you are coming on a cruise ship, just be aware that you will need to get transportation from the ship to the port entrance to meet the tour. It was approximately a mile walk so we were a little late to begin the day.
