Private Tokyo Food Tour with 10+ Tastings of Japanese Classics

Description
Located north-east of the heart of Tokyo, Ueno has been a perfect destination for those who desire good food and cultural exploration. What makes Ueno distinctively unique is its dynamic blend of contrasts; chaos and serenity, urban development and natural beauty, modernity and tradition, common touch and nobility. Ueno Park is located on what was once the grounds of the largest, most prestigious temple in Edo (old Tokyo), from the the 17th to 19th century. It is one of the most beloved cherry-blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. Local Japanese and tourists flock together for shopping and eating at its nearby district Ameyoko, where you will find a countless number of unique bars and dining places. While tasting the foods and enjoying the atmosphere of the area, you will find yourself becoming welcomed as a local in this friendly community. As a private tour, everything works around you! Our start times are much more easy going, dates can open up. It's more intimate and cozy experience.

Our tour guide was Shona Kirino. We found it difficult to find the meeting place. However Shona greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm. The weather was quite bad and Shona worked different solutions to keep us dry. He was very good, the food and drinks was top quality and this is a good tour.

We had a great time doing this tour. Our tour guide, Shonan, made sure we had a great time and answered all our questions. He made sure to bring each one of us water bottles because it was hot and humid out that day. We travelled with 1 child and he made sure we were well accommodated. The sushi was delicious, the secret meal was out of this world, I would highly recommend this tour especially if Shonan is the guide. 5 stars for him.
We toured with Mary today and had an amazing day! The food tour was in Ueno, which was a much less touristy area than where we had seen so far. We tried excellent sushi, gyoza, croquets, yakitori and much more. I’ve done the Secret Food Tours in Paris and Athens before, so knew we would get generous amounts of food along with learning about the culture and history. We also had time for a little shopping and visiting a temple. She gave us recommendations for other areas and helped us get on our way for the rest of our day. She was an amazing tour guide, very kind and caring.
This food tour with Nozomi was fantastic. She told us some very interesting things about some of the food history of Japan and she was curious about my culture as well, which was nice to share. Every dish was delicious and you really need to pace yourself because it’s a lot of food. Highly recommend!

Great tour to efficiently see, eat and learn - especially if you have a limited time in Tokyo. Mari was our guide and she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We had a fun afternoon eating and walking around. She did a nice job mixing in interesting facts and information. Highly recommend.

I love to try local foods but it's always tricky to know where to go and what to try. This tour was a fabulous experience. We tried 6 different foods, visited a temple and temple in Ueno Park and we walked through a local food market. We also tried a few different green teas. Overall a wonderful tour! You won't need dinner! :-)
