The Royal Mosque of Al-Refahi in Cairo is definitely worth a visit. Being of Iranian origin, I had long wanted to visit the tomb of the last king of Persia. It is done and I am not disappointed. We went to the opening very early and had the mosque almost to ourselves. The kind and very pleasant guide Fatima even took us to a florist to buy a nice bouquet. The Iranians honored their late ruler and offered magnificent Persian carpets to the mosque. The tombstone is sober and simple, in olive-coloured marble. The place exudes calm and serenity. The last kings of Egypt, Farouk and Fouad, as well as Queen Farideh and Princess Faouzia who was once the wife of the Shah and queen of Iran are buried in the next room. The mosque is grand and solemn. The other two mosques that are part of the tour are also interesting. If you have breath, do not miss to show up at the top of the minaret of Ibn Toulun, to have a superb view of the courtyard.
Great way to see mosques in old Cairo. Guide was very nice and gave good general cultural context. Not much on the architecture or history of the buildings themselves, however, which was ultimately what we were after.
The tour with our guide, Mahmoud, was exactly what I wanted. We visited three Mosques. Mahmoud explained the history and style of architecture of each mosque and told us where to capture the best pictures. Mahmoud is very knowledgeable, his English is great and he has a wonderful sense of humor. My husband and I had a great time on this tour.
I was lodged at Club Amigo Caracol Hotel of Santa Lucia beach,Cuba precisely on Dec 31/2023 and I have to say and every thing regarding services are very nice, comfortable rooms, nice entertainment, varied and delicious food in the buffet and spectacular show that night, really. It was an unforgettable time and so I invite others to visit this hotel to have the possibility of enjoying its services.
Standing side-by-side next to the Sultan Hussan Mosquej in Citadel Square, is the Al Rifa'i (the Royal Mosque). It was completed in 1912 to showcase modern Egypt. It features Mamluk architectural influences of its Islamic history. Now, it is also the royal mausoleum of Muhammad Ali's family.
This tour providing an amazing and very informative insight into the history of 3 mosques in Cairo which are all from different centuries and very different styles and layouts. We are Christian and to have the experience of standing in significant Muslim mosques was very special. Our guide (Nour) was an Egyptologist and was VERY knowledgable in the history of Egypt and the mosques, answering all our questions and sharing some of the Muslim culture. A VERY BIG thank you to Pyramids Land Tours and Nour for making this trip a very special experience. We will definitely use Pyramids Land Tours when we are back in Egypt.
Amal was our tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. we had a great overview of the three Mosques that we wanted to visit. She explained the history of each mosque fully for us. both my son and I were very pleased with her guidance.
