Driving) Alexandria is the second biggest city in Egypt with 5 million population and biggest seaport, it was founded by Alexander the Great in 334 B.C. and it remained the capital of Egypt during the Greco-Roman rule till the Arab conquest in 642 A.D. Start your tour with exploring the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, dating back to the early of the 2nd century A.D.

Then Pompey’s pillar dating back to the end of 3rd century and the remains of the Serapeum temple, the ancient temple of god Serapis. In the same area scattered monuments dating back to different periods.

The ancient lighthouse (Pharos) was one of the ancient seven wonders before it was completely destroyed. It was damaged several times during the Greco Roman period until it vanished. The beginning of reconstruct the library started at the late 80s of the last century. The special shape of the modern library of Alexandria is considered a special architectural germ. New Library was inaugurated in 2002 and it is a must see in Alexandria that you will visit and a have a guided tour inside it.
