I initially contacted Mohamed looking for a driver for one day on the West Bank of Luxor, but in the end I found someone who helped me with transportation throughout my entire 12-day long journey in Egypt. Mohamed organized all my airport transfers in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan, as well as transport to Saqqara, Dahshur, Memphis, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Dendera, Abydos, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Abu Simbel, and even suggested a great additional stop in Esna along the way. He also helped me with checking into apartments — which can be surprisingly difficult without Arabic, even when booking through Booking.com. Thanks to a very flexible schedule and very early departures, I was able to arrive at most sites before the large tour groups, which makes a huge difference and creates a completely different experience. I never felt rushed and could enjoy each place at my own pace. I do not regret at all that I canceled organized tours from GetYourGuide, Viator, and TripAdvisor. With private transportation, I avoided unnecessary stops, crowds, and guides whose information is often forgotten quickly anyway. On top of that, Mohamed offered prices that were lower than what I expected to pay on those platforms, so it was actually better value as well.
