The Cairo Tower (Egyptian Arabic: برج القاهرة, Borg El-Qāhira) is a free-standing concrete tower in Cairo, Egypt. At 187 m (614 ft), it is the tallest structure in Egypt and North Africa. It was the tallest structure in Africa for ten years until 1971, when it was surpassed by Hillbrow Tower in South Africa. One of Cairo's well-known modern monuments, sometimes considered Egypt's second most famous landmark after the Pyramids of Giza, it stands in the Gezira district on Gezira Island in the River Nile, close to downtown Cairo.
Tahrir Square (Arabic: ميدان التحرير Mīdān at-Taḥrīr, IPA: [meˈdæːn ettæħˈɾiːɾ], English: Liberation Square), also known as "Martyr Square", is a major public town square in downtown Cairo, Egypt. The square has been the location and focus for political demonstrations in Cairo, most notably those that led to the 2011 Egyptian revolution and the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak.

I booked this private evening walking tour in Cairo for February 21, 2026, starting at 19:00, expecting a pleasant, guided introduction to the city’s night atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience never even began due to completely unacceptable behavior from the tour guide, and I chose to cancel on the spot. The guide arrived 12 minutes late (at 19:12) at my hotel. Instead of apologizing, she immediately blamed us, claiming she had been “waiting outside the lobby the whole time” and that she had called the hotel reception (without explaining why or providing any proof). She then shifted responsibility to the tour company, saying they had not given her my contact number, so she couldn’t reach me directly. This excuse felt flimsy and unprofessional—private tours are supposed to include clear communication and punctuality. What was far worse was her attitude: she was extremely rude, arrogant, and impolite from the first moment. She spoke in a condescending tone, showed zero warmth or professionalism, and made several phone calls right in front of us while completely ignoring us—continuing her conversations as if we weren’t even there. The entire interaction felt disrespectful and hostile. Within just a few minutes, I strongly felt that this guide would make the rest of the evening unpleasant and stressful. I had no confidence she would deliver the enjoyable, informative private experience I had paid for. I therefore decided not to proceed with the tour and walked away. This was a significant disappointment and waste of an evening in Cairo. A private tour should start with punctuality, clear communication, courtesy, and enthusiasm—not excuses, blame-shifting, rudeness, and being treated as an inconvenience. I will not recommend this tour or this guide to anyone. If the company cannot ensure reliable, polite, and professional guides, they should not be offering private experiences. Date: February 21, 2026 Tour start time: 19:00 (guide arrived 19:12) Rating: 1/5 Would not book again.
I will never take this tours in my live I feel very insecure in the street the guy don’t show me nothing important It made me feel danger and insecurity; I'll never do it again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I didn't enjoy it and wanted to leave early. I would like a refund. Thx you
Our tour started from the hotel and we transferred to a horse carriage accompanied by our guide in Cairo. My grandson thought this was the highlight of the day. After the ride was over we had a free walking tour passing Tahrir square. As it was the end of Ramadan our guide invited us to share food and drink and insisted that we could not share in the cost. Honestly he was the most gracious host and treated us like friends. We felt completely safe in a very busy environment.
The driver and the tour guy are very good and helpful to make sure we’ve a great time in Egypt. Very caring for my mother who was very old lady.
Was a very good tour! Picked us up early. We went and road the carriages around the square. Our guide then took us for ice cream, which was so good. After ice cream, he offered us the choice of walking around looking at things or going to Cairo tower. We chose to head back to the hotel as our kids were getting tired.
