Piazza del Popolo and Historical Sights Walking Tour in Rome

Description
This tour takes you on a journey through the history of the Eternal City. It explores the sites and structures that marked Rome's rise to becoming a superpower of the Mediterranean . You will hear about the Republic of Rome, one of the first versions of democracy in human history, and then its transformation into the Roman Empire through a series of civil wars. Unquestionably the most enduring empire in western history, this tour will try to explain why that system eventually failed, leading to the fall of Rome, and a succession of new powers controlling the Italian peninsula. You will witness the works of great masters such as Bernini in the pinnacacle of Italian Baroque. Starting the tour where a pilgrim would enter the city, you will finish where their pilgrimage would end, close to the largest Christian church in the world, St Peter's. By the end of your tour, we are certain Rome will feel like a very different place.

We had a great tour with Lucio! Lucio was knowledgeable and personable and we loved spending time with him on this tour. He had so much historical information and balanced that with interesting and captivating facts! His timing was great allowing us to be efficient and get to a lot, while also allowing us to take in the beautiful sites in Rome. We really enjoyed this tour and absolutely recommend! Our family came back in the afternoon for the evening tour as well and enjoyed getting to do both in one day!
Lucio is a very knowledgable and interesting guide. He engages his audience well, encourages them to ask questions, and is enthusiastic and funny. With a background in architecture, he is an expert on the many buildings and statues of Rome. I also appreciated the way he would find shade when we stopped to talk and he also built in a comfort break about half way through.
Luccio was fantastic and the tour was great! Guide always found the shade and we learned a lot of Roman history and saw many of the "out of the way" sites you don't normally see on the basic tours. Highly recommend!
Lucio was absolutely fabulous! He walked at a great pace, always found the shade and gave us a lot of great history we didn’t pick up on any other tours! Highly recommend!
Excellent tour, Lucio was so knowledgeable, friendly and am excellent guide. He made the tour interesting and fun. Highly recommended
We were looking for a mellow walking tour through Rome and found this tour. It was just what we needed. Not the crowded hot loud monument tour. Something a little different but every bit as interesting.
Lucio was very knowledgeable, it was a perfectly paced personalized tour. Great details of historic places on our walk.
Great tour, very informative. Our guide was great and we turned out to be the only 2 on the tour that day. Great use of time and frames things to pick out what to do more in depth later.
This walking tour was so enjoyable! My 2 teenage children and I went, and there were only 2 other attendees, so it was a very small group, which was fantastic.
Fantastic tour and wonderful guide Lucio. He was informative and entertaining. Highly recommend this tour
