Normandy D-Day Beaches All-American Private Day Tour from Paris

What an amazing unforgettable day. We really appreciate the personal attention Jozef paid to my dad who is named after his uncle who was killed in France and landed on Utah beach during WWII.

Our recent tour of Utah Beach & area with Jozef Prihoda co-owner of Private Trip. Jozef is a very charismatic and knowledgeable person who shares a wealth of information in true story form that makes the history of the Normandy beaches come alive as he takes you to the sites. It truly was a wonderful life changing experience. Because it is a private tour company, you are able to design your own itinerary and Jozef will make suggestions if you are “open”. This aspect allowed us to visit a small church in Angoville (which we had read about ) as well as spend more time trekking Utah Beach in addition to visiting other sites. It truly was a very special day and we look forward to booking with him and Deborah again. ( This was our 2nd tour with their company). Dan & Pat

Josef was amazing. Pickup from hotel and very well paced tour. We stopped for bathroom and coffee on our way. The guide gave us many options and allowed us to build our own experience with some added suggestions. It is a LONG day from Paris as a day trip but very doable. Felt like I was walking the sets of Saving Private Ryan.

outstanding day. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and was able to discuss subtle details about the exact spots we were standing in. facilitated a great lunch at local restaurant with pre-arranged seating to beat the crowd. If you don't have time to stay in the area and are curious if this can be done from Paris, it was well worth the long day of driving for us to be able to walk and see these sites. Guide was great with kids, and allowed them to just play on the beach while we looked at other things.

Joe was a terrific tour guide. He is the best we have ever had in all our travels! His knowledge off WWII and Normandy added so much to the enjoyment of this trip. I would highly recommend this tour with Joe.

This was an excellent tour experience. Jozef had contacted me prior to our tour for information about my uncle who jumped on DDay. He was with the 507th PIR and with his battalion and company Jozef knew where he had been. Our 2nd stop on the tour was likely the place where my uncle was - there was a plaque there with the captain my uncle had served with. Jozef suggested I bring 2 coins with me to bury in memory of my uncle. One went her by the sign for Le Merderet. We also went to other 507th memorial sites and buried another coin. As Jozef said "I am a story teller". That he was. Jozef made the tour work for us. I would certainly recommend him to anyone wanting to have a memorable tour of Normandy.

Our tour guide, Josef, an incredibly knowledgeable and engaging person, who’s ability to recreate the historical details of the D-Day occurrence while taking us the whole length of the beach landings, including the airborne drop areas, made for a truly memorable and meaningful experience.

We booked “Private Trip” several months in advance for a six-hour tour of the sites of Paris and a separate full day tour to Normandy. The booking process via email was simple, and Deborah was very communicative about the details and the pricing. Through his near perfect English, his prior experience in the five-star hotel industry, and his incredible knowledge of and passion for history, Jozef provided us with two very memorable days. He took great pride in imparting us with in-depth and detailed analyses, coupled with interesting stories, to fully explain the highlights and historical significance at each destination. On the day of our Paris tour, Jozef promptly picked us up at our hotel in a new Volvo XC60. At each stop, he constantly provided not only information as to what we were seeing, but he offered in-depth historical background and context, inclusive of all the “who, what, where, and why”. By the end of the day, which lasted longer than advertised six hours (without any additional cost), we encountered most of the major attractions and many of the lesser-known landmarks of Paris and acquired a vast historical perspective which greatly enhanced our overall experience. Our second excursion was to Normandy, including Omaha Beach, the American military cemetery, and a tour of the surrounding areas. Standing on the beach, Jozef recreated D-Day, including who was positioned where, the troops involved on each side, the backgrounds of the troops, the impact of the weather, the lines of fire, the weaponry and vehicles, the natural and man-made obstacles, etc. With each step it become more evident that Jozef knew every inch of the terrain and he had read dozens of books from which he pieced together multiple historical accounts from a variety of perspectives. This was a once in a lifetime adventure lead by the perfect guide who pays impeccable attention to detail and his clients’ experience. In addition to the tours listed on their website, Jozef and Deborah also offer customized tours to fit individual interests. We plan to return for personalized tours of Champagne country and other WW1 and WW2 battle sites. The experiences provided by Jozef and Deborah of “Private Trip” are worth every penny (or Euro).
