Description

Walk through the heart of Athens and into the world of ancient myth. This storytelling walking tour explores how Greek mythology shaped not only temples and statues, but also how we still think, feel, and live today. As we wander through the historic center — from neoclassical landmarks to shaded gardens and hidden churches — you'll hear stories of gods, heroes, and mortals whose choices still echo in our modern lives. We'll explore the meaning and purpose of myth, the eternal struggle between fate and freedom, and the timeless human emotions hidden behind ancient names. Through a mix of dramatic storytelling, reflections on modern life, and one fun interactive improv game, you'll step into the myths rather than just hear them. This tour is suitable for mythology lovers of all ages, including curious children, thoughtful teens, and imaginative adults. It’s designed to be accessible, engaging, and family-friendly, while still diving deep into the big questions behind the stories.

Athens walking tour

My wife and I had a great time on the Athens Myths & Tales Walking Tour. Babis was very knowledgeable about Greek history and was a very pleasant tour guide, taking us around the various sites in the historic area of Athens, including the Cathedral of St Dionysius and the Parliament to see the changing of the guards. A great experience!

Captivating storytelling of Greek mythology

Amazing experience with Cara, our guide! She told amazing stories about the Mitzen legends of Athens. Originally from Italy, she offered a really unique perspective on the city of Athens and Greek mythology. She was very friendly, and her stories captivated my two children ages 10 and 12 and me and my husband. She tied the storytelling together with modern day buildings as well. The tour was slow and steady, perfect for the evening scene in Athens, not too much walking or climbing required. I felt that this tour was a perfect way to recap, and end our trip to Athens. Excellent experience overall!
