Morocco in 8 Days: Chefchaouen, Fes & Merzouga Desert Tour

We had an amazing time with our driver Yassin. He was very good to us and our kids and highly recommend him. He took us from Marrakech to Boumalne Dades, Sahara, Fez, chefchouwen and ended in tangier. He’s a great guy. He would call the places we stayed at before we arrived to make sure everything was ready for us.

We enjoyed this itinerary with our driver, Ismail. Ismail drove very safely and always checked in on us to ensure we were okay. He made sure we were comfortable and was available if we needed him. He was kind, bought us coffee during the drive, shared some great music with us, and took photos of us! This tour is primarily for private transportation and lodging. It took the stress out of renting a car, driving, and booking the hotels ourselves. The guides at each stop will have to be booked separately. Ismail booked guides for us when we wanted them. The most amazing places for us on this itinerary were Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga, and Ait Ben Haddou. We recommend booking a guide for Fes (because it is very easy to get lost) and Ait Ben Haddou (because the history is amazing). The drives were beautiful, passing through villages, cities, the Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara desert landscapes. The hotels that we stayed at were comfortable and had nice breakfasts. The camel ride in the Sahara was amazing! We had a great experience and made a lot of beautiful memories in Morocco.

We are a family of four who took a 9-day Morocco cross country tour with Starry Morocco Tours via Viator (8 Days 7 Nights Tour to North & Desert Adventure + 1-day Ouzoud Waterfalls from Marrakech). Yassine was our driver for the entire trip. He was professional and courteous. Throughout the trip, he drove carefully, ensuring our safety, was available when needed, arranged local guides where necessary, and aimed to provide us the most amazing experience. With his extensive experience, he knew the most scenic spots on the route and stopped for photos at key locations. We appreciate Yassine for his efforts during our Morocco trip. We had amazing 9 days in Morocco, thanks to our driver Yassine. He guided us to beautiful itinerary spots and additional locations. Originally, we booked an 8-day tour with Starry Morocco Tours via Viator (8Days 7Night Tour To North & Desert Adventure) and added a day trip to the Ouzoud waterfalls from Marrakech. Without Yassine we would have just wasted the spare day. Yassine coordinated with Ayman and scheduled the Ouzoud day trip for us with ease. Yassine ensured our safety, drove carefully through the Atlas Mountains, arranged local guides where necessary, and made sure we had an incredible experience. He frequently stopped for photos and was very professional and kind. I highly recommend Yassine for a safe and enriching journey in Morocco. Thanks Yassine and we shall return soon!

This experience was a good one, and we had a great time in Morocco! **NOTE: I do wish I'd realized a little more about how the tour worked before the trip, so a quick note on that first: there is plenty that is not included in the upfront price, which is totally fine if you're expecting it, but I think the way the listing is written makes it seem like more is included than is actually the case. For example, everything is listed as "free admission" in the itinerary, but many of the sites we visited do have admission costs (e.g. $10/person at Volubilis, $8/person at Ourzazate, $35/person for an [optional] tour of Fez, etc.). We also felt there was an expectation of tipping at most places even if the tour itself was technically free. The day tour at Fez (which we did with Raja, and it was awesome!) is also not included ($35/person). Again, none of this is bad, just was unexpected for us based on the way the listing was written. I would say to estimate an additional $40-$60 USD per person per day in tips, admission costs, food etc.** Now, on to the great parts. Our driver, Abdel, was fantastic! Always on time and very accommodating to anything we needed. He talked with us when we wanted and let us sleep while he drove when we were too tired. He is an expert driver and kept us safe on the roads. It's also obvious that he has a lot of connections with the riads, restaurants, tour guides, etc. on the route, and we felt that we got great service partially because of the way he talked with the staff at each place we went to to get us settled. The night in the desert (New Year's Eve) was a night to remember--a camel ride, getting to meet fellow tourists from at least 4 other countries, sitting around the fire singing songs together, and ringing in the new year in the middle of the Sahara. A highlight for sure! The tour of Fez with Raja was also a highlight. Getting to see the souks and learn more about the process of making mosaics and perfumes was super fun for us. Raja is an expert guide and again, she has many connections that made the tour as awesome as it was. This tour is fast paced with a lot of time in the car. We definitely left tired but also having experienced a great sampling for our first time visiting this wonderful country. We had a good experience overall and are grateful to Abdel, Ayman, and Starry Morocco Tours for a great introduction to Morocco.

Our first time in Morocco brought us in contact with Yassine. He picked us up from our hotel at Casablanca and we saw his friendliness immediately. He has such a friendly smile and made us at ease. We were expecting long drives but Yassine made sure to stop for breaks, especially for clean toilets. He also gave us plenty of time to visit various places, meals, and shopping. During long drive up/down the mountain or desert, from point to point, Yassine drove safely while we all slept in the van. It must have been tiring to drive such long distances but Yassine does all that driving with a smile, even we wanted to make detours to see a solar farm, obtain medicine from a pharmacy or shop at a mall. We were fortunate to have him. This being our first time in Morocco, Yassine encouraged us to try various local food (from tanging to dates) and give the various hotels a try, and it turns out our daughter loves Morocco food. When we had local guides, Yassine would seek our feedback of the guide - to make sue we are treated well. When we wanted to change the schedule, he contact the office and took care of the arrangements. Yassine would also contact the hotel ahead of time, so that the hotel porters are there to help with our luggages. If you are ever in Morocco, ask for Yassine.

We had 8 wonderful days in Morroco thanks to our driver Joseph! He took us to all the beautiful places in the itinerary and even some spots not in the itinerary. He also took us to his home and made us some good Moroccan tea with dessert. My husband mentioned it was my birthday he even went to get me a surprised birthday cake. We felt safe and very well taken care of at all times in Morroco. Thanks Joseph and we shall return!

Incredible tour and a lot of learning! What a beautiful country! The proposed itinerary allows you to know different landscapes, cultures and historical trajectories, and the hotels chosen were comfortable and cozy, allowing rest after so much road. In addition, the driver / guide Joseph is very experienced on the roads and was very attentive at everything with us, I recommend too!

Morocco is an amazing country with many colors, customs and contrasts. This tour takes you through various cities, cultures, landscapes and unique experiences. From our departure from our hotel in Casablanca to our arrival in Marrakesh we have special days. A special thanks to our guide and driver Joseph for the excellent ride over so many kilometers and for being always available to help us.

We had the most amazing experience ever in Morocco! We booked this 8 day tour with Starry Morocco Tours, great communication with Ayman, he answered all our questions and requests. Our drivel was Abdel, a real exceptional guy, very nice and accomodating, always on time. He made our tour amazing, very safe driving, taking us all over Morocco. We were provided with an SUV for the 3 of us. Very private which we loved! Abdel picked us up in Casablanca and took us right to our first stop in Rabat. He also helped us find currency exchange places in Rabat and Midelt, its very important to have dirhams since local people dont accept foreign money. The highlight of the trip was Merzouga, riding the camels and sleeping in the camp. A once in a lifetime experience! The price also includes all accommodations and the riads were all beautiful, breakfast provided everyday and 2 free dinners. We booked a guide in Fez and Marrakech which we paid separate. Both guides Rashid and Hamid were very good and we learned a lot of things from them. We could not thank Abdel and Ayman enough for the wonderful time and for keeping us safe in Morocco!

Abdelmonim was our driver and we spent a lot of time together. He is not only an excellent driver, but he got us to all of our destinations safely, efficiently, and paid close attention to our needs and requests. My husband and I were well taken care of and we were able to ask Abdelmonim anything we wanted about the tour and he freely responded with honest and forthcoming answers. I felt I could truly trust him and felt extremely grateful to have him as our driver. This is a very ambitious tour itinerary with a fast pace but it all gets done within an impressive timeline. I will not forget the beauty of this country, the people, the culture, the hustle. Everything was extraordinary and I would suggest that as a tourist you do research before you go to all of these sights so you can fully appreciate the infinite sights you see! Know that a professional guide is NOT included in this package and that for specific cities, you can pay privately for one. I highly recommend this as it is not included in the tour although it may be misleading the way some of the descriptions are written. The accommodations selected were charming and beautiful. Each time we checked in, we were so pleasantly surprised with the lovely places that were selected. I highly recommend you do this tour as it includes Chefchouen. We opted to finish our tour at Marrakech and not return to Casablanca on day 8.

**Excited and nervous for the trip ** I was really nervous when we started our trip to Morocco, as this was the first time for our family visiting Morocco and Africa in general. Especially my husband and I were responsible for taking care of our 2 young girls (4 & 7yrs) and my mother who is over 70yrs. We really had no idea what was waiting for us ahead when we landed in Casablanca. Then, we met Jalal - our private tour driver with a cheerful smile on his face and a big handwritten banner of my husband’s name in his hands, behind him a nice black Mercedes Benz 8 seats van waiting for us in front of the airport. - The van was spacious, clean, and equipped with baby car seat for our 4yrs. Very comfortable for long distance driving. So, our journey started from there. **Jalal is one of the best drivers we have ever met, he knows the roads very well! ** In the high way he drives stable and on speed. In villages /cities with narrow and crowded streets which for us were impossible to pass he still can manage smoothly and politely. He followed our agreed itinerary, even if it was hard for us to keep on the schedule, as with young children and elderly the visits might last longer and sometimes we needed more stops on the road, Jalal was always patient to us. He never complained, always tried his best to accommodate. When he is not with us, he is reachable by WhatsApp always. **During this 8 days trip, we went with Jalal clockwise circled around Morocco. ** We visited big cities and small villages, walked through ancient streets and bargained in the local market; we went into Sahara desert and high mountains, played with monkeys and rode camels. **We experienced the four season in one week!** We showered in the spring rain, welcomed the summer heat, fought against the autumn wind and touched the winter snow. Jalal showed and explained to us so much about Morocco’s geography and culture on the way. We had professional tour guide in big cities too. **We will definitely come back to Morocco again! ** It was the most amazing family trip we ever had! We never imagined Morocco like this, it is so diverse. The landscape is divine, the architecture is beautiful. The life of locals is not easy but they are so kind and forgiving, specially with kids. It has been a fabulous experience and we are already looking for dates to return! We have done an 8-day route through Morocco where we have been able to see beautiful landscapes and enjoy the diversity and hospitality of the towns visited. We traveled with two little girls, which initially worried us, but they had a great time (we even had to repeat the camel ride, which they loved!) Jalal has been a fantastic driver and guide during these days and a good friend who has helped us enjoy this experience even more. Punctual, diligent and VERY patient (especially with girls) 100% recommendable!

We had a wonderful your seeing so much of Morocco on such a quick timeline. Our drivers name was Yassine and he kept in touch with us over WhatsApp the whole time to make sure we were good each evening and that we had a plan for each day ahead of time. The hotels, food, and sites were all memorable. Highly recommend

Yassine was an excellent driver for our trip. We had a family with 2 kids and a senior with us and he made sure we were looked after with all stops and breaks along the way. The tour itself was comprehensive and we'll planned out to see such a large amount of regions, sites and food stops. The driver helped us with local guides at each stop both to setup the guide, obtain reasonable pricing, and make sure that communications were handled really well. Expect to budget extra for the guides at each stop unless you plan to see the sites yourself. The hotels were 3 ish stars.. all clean and comfortable for the region and the food was great.

The whole event was really great. Haadi our driver took care of us during the whole afternoon and evening. The camel ride was fun but sedate but the atv quad bike ride at sunset was a lot of fun. The tangine meal was really tasty and the berber musicians got everyone in party mood by the end of the night.

Everything, the Sahara desert, magnificent nature, moroccan living, food etc. was great and beautiful. My driver, Hamza is very nice and accurate for time so we never wait for him. He generously provide us whatever we want to do. Thank you all Hamza!
