Description

Why don't you join us to make shimenawa ornaments of Japanese traditional culture? The design features mizuhiki wrapped around the shimenawa and a crane attached. High-quality artificial flowers are arranged around a shimenawa rope made of richly scented rush grass. We will arrange Senryo (which means “good luck” and will make you rich), pine trees, bamboo grass, dahlias, and mums. We hope you will be able to design your own shimenawa arrangement without sticking to the sample. We will show you how to make it in the video. As a souvenir of Japan, it will be a great experience for you to create an original work of art. It is easy to make, just paste it on. Even children can make it. Coffee is included. We will have lessons at a cafe just a 2-minute walk from the JR Keihin Tohoku Line Tokyu Oimachi Line

The first shimenawa I made was very popular with my family!

I was happy to experience making shimenawa, which I wanted to try once but didn't have a chance to do. The teacher taught me gently and carefully and in a very easy-to-understand way, so I was able to enjoy making it for the first time. I immediately put it up and it was very popular with my family.

Private shimenawa-making experience in Oimachi, Shinagawa

Lovely relaxed shimenawa workshop at a cute little coffee shop with Ebihara-san, an experienced craftsperson and flower arrangement teacher. She made the process easy to follow and suggested plenty of ideas on how to arrange each decoration on the wreath. If you’re looking for a traditional and unique handmade souvenir to take home from Japan, this experience is highly recommended.

Operator response
