Lantern Night Kyo-Machiya Tea Room & Ikebana near Fushimi Inari

Description
Japan has a long-standing tradition of appreciating the beauty of shadows and subtle light. This is a special evening session where we deliberately illuminate a room with only a single traditional andon lantern, allowing guests to fully enjoy the soft, flickering atmosphere of candle-like light. It is in this darkness that you can truly appreciate the glow of the red charcoal embers, as well as the delicate reflections of light on the tea utensils, flowers, and the wooden architecture of the room. In addition to the hands-on exhibitions—just like in our daytime sessions—you will experience the quiet, profound atmosphere that only this historic, city-designated important machiya townhouse can provide. Optional paid lessons on authentic matcha preparation and serving by a tea ceremony master may also be available.
