It was the administrative center of late Ottoman Empire with the last of Ottoman Sultans was staying there. The first parliament convened in the grand hall. Atatürk died in there too. Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan Mosque, is located next to Dolmabahce Palace. Sultan Abdülmecid made for his mother Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan.

The guide was very punctual, friendly, knows well the history of the place. He gave us good suggestions. It's a must-see. Although the guide spoke mainly English, he made a great effort to communicate in Spanish with a non-English speaking member of the group. Very satisfied

This is a nice tour to do over 2 -3 hours. We enjoyed the beautiful setting along the river front. The palace shows off many of the personal gifts given to the sultans by visiting officials, and furnishings if their time. We would have enjoyed the tour more, but they would not give us audio guides without providing two forms of ID. This tour is a four star but given the circumstances I could only rate it a three.
