The guide did an excellent job and we had a great day. It was the highlight of the trip. We did this in August 2025. I also remember my mum enjoying the conversation with that young man. He came to the hotel with the driver and we had a great day.
Hello. Avani Kalutara is a great hotel with wonderful food, attentive crew service and a beautiful location. We would like to express our special thanks for the sensitivity, help, excellent English and care of Guest Relation Executive Mrs. Tharindi De Silva. Our family will not forget her warm smile until our next visit to Avani Kalutara! Remigijus and family.
We had a wonderful day exploring Versailles and Monet’s house and garden with Joseph. He was very knowledgable and provided interesting historical perspective to the experience. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the day and had a memorable journey.
Very nice excursion. Guide was knowledgeable and filled us in on a lot of history about Monet and Versailles. Our travel time went quickly with all of the information. We also enjoyed stopping at a lovely bistro in Normandy. It was a very easy and enjoyable day.
Wonderful trip. Picked up promptly from our hotel by Gustavo. We enjoyed Versailles and learned so much about the history and grounds. Gustavo was able to bring Versailles to life with his knowledge of art history. He pointed out details I certainly would have missed! We were able to see the garden fountains set to music as well as many of the interior rooms. Giverny was lovely. My 15 year old especially enjoyed the lush gardens and the house tour. She was surprised to learn of Monet’s fondness for Asian art. As a bonus, on the way home, we did a couple quick stops at quaint villages as we were passing through. It was a long day, but a great way to see two interesting sites! While it’s something you can plan on your own for much less, it was wonderful to not need to worry about transportation or long lines and to have someone who is so familiar with the history guiding us for the day.
We did the tour with a guide. Both the house and the garden, located in Giverny, where the famous impressionist lived and died, is worth the visit. The whole place is as fun to explore as it's inspiring. But you've got to plan it well. Especially in July and August the gardens are wonderful…
Our guide was very knowledgeable with French history, an excellent driver and good company. He also coped very well when I was not at the correct meeting place at Versailles!!!
Did this trip today with Fred. He was very insightful and provided the right level of information. Giverny was breathtaking. The restaurant was very good and a beautiful place. The time in Versailles may be a bit too short if you are looking to explore the garden in depth. Because it was not my first time, I was ok with the time allotted.
The sites are beautiful. We had a great lunch at a nearby restaurant that was both yummy and picturesque. The guide - at first we thought, maybe that is just French. The first insult was before we got in the car, telling my daughter how she makes things difficult. There were several more odd comments and we all just looked at one another and went along. He complained constantly. He yelled at cars, walkers and bicyclists. At one point, we stopped at a light, he rolled down his window, yelled at the car next to us, called him an a-hole, and then told us how he is a professional driver. During our walking of Versailles, he bitterly complained about the Chinese, who are admittedly pushy, and yelled at a guy, then told us to "just push them onto the ground and they will keep smiling". No joke. We were very happy to get dropped off and get on to something else.
Hell. I am sorry to hear that. My apologies. Our guides they are not supposed to do that. Could you please tell me the date so i know who are we talking about?
We booked a full day tour with a private vehicle and guide for eight of us to go to Monet’s Gardens & Versailles. We picked one from Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. We were collected exactly on time from our hotel by a smartly dressed guide who spoke excellent English. He introduced himself as Kevin and took us to the minibus that was ours for the day. The day went really well. He was a brilliant guide, knowledgeable and interesting with plenty of character. We had wonderful day and would certainly use these people shay, providing we could have Kevin as guide.
