Ancient Corinth was one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. It was this megalopolis where the Apostle Paul arrived, worked and established a prosperous church, and later on he wrote two of his epistles, which are now part of the New Testament. We will visit the ruins of the old city where St. Paul worked You will admire also the Temple of Apollo, that is one of the oldest temples in Greece dating back to the 6th century B.C.

Depart from and drive along the coast line until we reach the Corinth Canal where we will make a brief stop. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. ls considered one of the great engineering accomplishments of Greece. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base. The canal was constructed from 1880 to 1893, however, it is something that shipowners and captains had dreamed about for some 2000 years before it became a reality.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympieion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is a former colossal temple at the center of the Greece capital Athens. It was dedicated to "Olympian" Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods. Construction began in the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian tyrants, who envisaged building the greatest temple in the ancient world, but it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, some 638 years after the project had begun. During the Roman period the temple -that included 104 colossal columns- was renowned as the largest temple in Greece and housed one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world.

The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main historic attractions of Athens,it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. A stadium was built on the site of a simple racecourse by the Athenian statesman Lykourgos (Lycurgus) c. 330 BC, primarily for the Panathenaic Games. The stadium was excavated in 1869 and hosted the Zappas Olympics in 1870 and 1875. After being refurbished, it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896. It was used for various purposes in the 20th century and was once again used as an Olympic venue in 2004. It is the finishing point for the annual Athens Classic Marathon. It is also the last venue in Greece from where the Olympic flame handover ceremony to the host nation takes place.

10 min

Lycabettus hill also known as Lycabettos, Lykabettos or Lykavittos is a Cretaceous limestone hill in Athens, Greece at 300 meters (908 feet) above sea level. Pine trees cover its base, and at its two peaks are the 19th century Chapel of St. George, a theatre, and a restaurant.

10 min

One of the most unique experiences is the changing of the guards in Athens. The presidential guards or Evzones, guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Hellenic Parliament building around the clock, through the coldest winter night or hottest summer day. Evzones are an elite unit of the Greek army and it is a very high honour for a Greek guard to be selected as an Evzone

5 min

The Arch of Hadrian, most commonly known in Greek as Hadrian's Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling – in some respects – a Roman triumphal arch. It has been proposed that the arch was built to celebrate the adventus (arrival) of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and to honor him for his many benefactions to the city. There were two inscriptions on the arch, facing in opposite directions, naming both Theseus and Hadrian as founders of Athens.

Amazing Tours of Athens and the Surrounding Area

My wife and I had a wonderful time with George taking us around Athens and all the other places we selected to see over our 3-day visit. We also did the Vravrona & Cape Sounion and Delphi tours with George. We appreciated learning all about the places we saw and the surrounding area. The scenery and history were amazing which allowed us to get many great pictures our rememberable trip. George was a great host and took good care of us. I would highly recommend George and Tours of Athens to others who want to get an in depth look at a beautiful country without the hassle of a large group bus tour.

Top notch Athens private tour

My wife and I had a great time in doing the Athens-Ancient Corinth full day tour. The owner, Dionisis, was very responsive and easy to communicate with upon sending an inquiry two days before the tour. All my questions were answered and the booking was organized without any issues. I was surprised that they were able to accommodate despite the short notice as other companies have declined our inquiry. On the day of the tour, our driver (John) and guide (Dina) were not only on time but came early at the meeting point as we did. They received us with a smile and a warm welcome. The tour proceed smoothly. Both Dina and John are knowledge, friendly and they provided the best service that we can ask for. Thanks to them, I understand now when they say that Greek hospitality is second to none. They were very caring and always checked in if we needed anything or have any questions. I have nothing but good things to say about this experience. If you're looking for a private tour with the best guide and driver, then I highly recommend this touring company. They exceeded our expectations, and felt very well take care of.

The Best

The guide service was an easy process to book and the owner e-mailed and called to make sure everything was just right. On the day of the tour they were prompt, on time, and the van was very comfortable. Both the driver and the tour guide were very knowledgeable, professional and a lot of fun to spend a full day with. I would definitely utilize this service if I were to go back to Athens. They were great!

BOOK THIS TOUR!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Greece! We were honestly excited about getting to the islands and didn’t put much thought into Athens / Corinth but this tour changed our minds. Our driver and private guide were incredible! Our tour guide knew so much biblical history which was a great surprise since it was important to us to learn more about Mars Hill and Corinth from that perspective. Wish I could give 10 stars!

Wonderful Tour

We enjoyed our full day tour. While we were in Athens, we actually went ahead and booked another tour with the same company for a few days later. The vehicle was clean, waters were provided and the tour was outstanding. The guide was informative about the sights and began to offer some customized visits along the way of sights that he thought we would enjoy. We were able to see a lot of Athens in a very enjoyable, comfortable manner. The guides truly want you to be comfortable and at home on the tour. I highly recommend!
