The Hanging Church, also known as Saint Virgin Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church or Al-Moallaqa, is a historic landmark in Coptic Cairo, Egypt. Built in the 5th century atop the Babylon Fortress, it appears suspended over an arched gatehouse, earning its name. The church sits in Old Cairo's Coptic quarter, near the Coptic Museum, accessible via a 29-step staircase. The church can be reached through narrow alleys in the Babylon Fortress area. It takes approx 2 hours to see the church and associated tourism areas nearby.
