Coco Chanel's Paris: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Description
Coco Chanel has been the subject of biographies, movies, television programs, and even books like “The Gospel According to Coco Chanel: Life Lessons from the World’s Most Elegant Woman.” Born Gabrielle Chanel, she defied humble origins to mingle with Europe's elite, including a few very notable lovers. She also transformed women's fashion with light fabrics and simple design, including the now iconic little black dress. This walk takes in the major sites associated with Coco Chanel's life, fashions, jewellery, and perfumes, as well as areas that were central to the fashion industry of the 19th and early to mid 20th centuries. The tour is ready whenever you are and the audio plays automatically at exactly the right time and place using your smartphone's GPS and the VoiceMap mobile app, which also works offline.

Itinerary
The boutique on the ground floor of the Chanel headquarters sells everything from clothes to handbags to makeup. Look for the mirrored staircase at the north end of the boutique. (This audio tour does NOT include access to the boutique or other private areas) During fashion parades, Chanel would sit on the stairs, out of sight of the audience, watching the models and the audience’s reaction in the mirrors.
The Place Vendome is known for its jewellery and watch stores, and you’ll see Cartier, Boucheron, Van Cleef and Arpels, Piaget, Patek Philippe, and Dior, mostly on the same side as the Chanel boutique.
A sign in the window of Harry’s New York Bar spells out the American pronunciation of the address: “Sank Roo Doe Noo.” The idea was that Americans in Paris could easily learn these four syllables so that they could always get there in a taxi.

Very nice performance that made us plunge back in time and the feminine condition of the time in enchanting places that amaze us. The genesis of the brand and the inspiration of Coco are very well reflected.
super performance! A journey back in time. bravo
VoiceMap worked really well for us. Before hand download the App and download the tour with the code you are sent a few days before. Worked perfectly off line. The map was easier to follow than Google Maps. You can stop and start the audio which is perfect when you want to go inside one of the sites on the way. Easy to listen to in English. My daughter studied Coco Chanel for a school project. It was great to follow Ms Chanel’s footsteps in Paris.
Sadly, I got neither the confirming email with the link to the tour audio, or did anyone at Chanel know what I was talking about when I showed them my receipt. First negative experience I’ve ever had with using Expedia for over 15 years.
Hi there, I'm sorry that you had a negative experience. We offer self-guided tours, and we are not affiliated with Chanel. This walk takes in the major sites associated with Coco Chanel's life. On our side, I can see that the code and instructions were sent to you by SMS and email. It sounds like you won't have another opportunity to do this tour, so I have processed a full refund for you. Regards, Brent
The ticket was very confusing regarding meeting at the train station. The address for the event location was no where to be found on the ticket. The exhibition was disappointing in that there were no modern displays.
I spent about a half an hour, figuring out how to use the app and every time I went to the meeting point they kept saying that I was lost. It was so frustrating and difficult to use that. I would never use this app again. Please make it more user-friendly. I finally gave up and never was able to see or experience what I had hoped to.
My 11 year old daughter enjoyed this tour with me. very informative and its wonderful that your location is picked up s you go.
Good explanations about the individual stations with interesting background information. The only negative thing to mention was that the individual language files could not be played even after several restarts.
