Bruges Guided Small Group Day Trip from Paris with Canal Cruise

Description
After a comfortable drive in an air-conditioned minivan of no more than 8 people from Paris, you’ll arrive in Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most romantic medieval cities in Europe. Start with a canal cruise, offering the best views of Bruges’ medieval façades and most iconic photo spots. In winter, the cruise is replaced by a visit to the Gothic Hall of the Town Hall. Your expert and multilingual guide will lead you through the historic center, showcasing Bruges’ most iconic landmarks: the Belfry and Market Square, Burg Square with the Gothic Town Hall and the Basilica of the Holy Blood, the peaceful Beguinage and the romantic Lake of Love. You'll have free time to explore Bruges at your own pace: savor Belgian specialties such as mussels and fries, waffles, chocolate, and local beers; visit Flemish art museums featuring masters like Van Eyck and Bosch; shop for traditional products like handmade lace or simply let yourself be surprised at every corner.

Itinerary
Bruges is located in Belgium. Classified as part of UNESCO Heritage, the city of Bruges is well-known as "the little Venice of the North " because of its numerous canals which cross the city. Nowadays, Bruges testifies to the Flemish Art through its historical centre and numerous museums and tourist sites.
Markt is dominated by its Belfry, for centuries the city’s foremost edifice and the perfect look-out in case of war, fire or any other calamity. You can still climb to the top of the tower! At the foot of the Belfry are the world’s most famous chippies (frietkoten)! The statue of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck graces the middle of the square. These two popular heroes of Bruges resisted French oppression and consequently played an important part during the Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302. Their statue neatly looks out onto the Gothic revival style Provincial Palace (Markt 3). Until the 18th century this used to be the extremely busy Waterhalle, a covered warehouse where goods were loaded and unloaded along the canals that ran alongside the square. Today the canals are still there, albeit underground.

I booked a day trip to Bruges from Paris, and I couldn’t be happier how it all went. The professionalism of our guide, Rolando, of Dutch origin, is what I can highlight most. Its flexibility and mastery of information, since we started the car journey in Paris was already explaining curiosities and facts about the city despite the tour being only Bruges. The road in VAN was very comfortable although there was a bit of jam, we made stops and the guide perfectly adapted to the group. In destination, he provided us with a map of the city and as we walked through Bruges, he provided us with recommendations to eat with their respective brochures and cards, and we made very pleasant stops to try typical Belgian beer and see a chocolate shop. The 30-minute boat ride was a plus, the guide organized it very well and was most pleasant to get a general idea of the city and its landscapes. The group also had very nice and nice people, I went alone but I can say that I always felt accompanied by both the guide and my colleagues in the group, all lovely. We then had free time in Bruges to eat and stayed with the guide at the restaurant he recommended, the typical Belgian food was delicious and then gave us time to take a quiet walk before returning to the VAN for the return journey. I personally work in tourism and greatly value that the guide is professional, adapts to the group, is flexible and still makes everything enjoyable and “effortless”. And, without a doubt, Rolando has embroidered it. It is difficult to find such a good guide for such long tours and it far exceeded my expectations. 100/100, highly recommend it.
Wonderful place with a lot of history, good food and artisanal. We sent in a small group and it was much better. The only thing I would improve it is the driver/ guide tour knowledge about the city. He was super nice but he knows just the basic things about Bruges.
Hello Elizang, Thank you very much for your review. We will pass your comments to the team to improve. This tour is quite famous as it takes you to discover the medieval city known as the 'Venice of the North'. If you are still in Paris or plan to return, I would recommend a dinner cruise on the Seine to see Paris from a different angle. You can also try our guided tour of the Louvre, this wonderful museum is the largest museum in the world and a must see in Paris! Thank you again for choosing us, Have a great day. My husband and I were impressed with our tour guide harry. Very knowledgeable from the beginning to the end of our trip.harry was friendly and very pleasant.A definite A+ for harry. Corinne and Bobby.
This was an incredible tour!. We left from Paris in front of the Louvre for a 3 1/2 hour van ride. We arrived in Bruges and our tour guide Edwardo gave us some history as we walked into town. He was very knowledgeable. We then had a canal cruise that was included. Such a beautiful way to see all the interesting buildings. We then had 3 1/2 hours of free time to eat, shop and see more . Definitely, could have had more time . We would like to go back to explore more. We then had 4 1/2 hour ride back to Paris( traffic) . We went on a Tues and the town was pretty busy. Edwardo said the weekends are packed . Edwardo was the nicest . We all had a lot of fun in the van , laughing and getting to know each other. All of us were from different countries . I give 4 stars and not 5 because the Van is small to fit 8 people! 3 in small back, 3 in middle , and 2 up front plus driver. It was cramped . We did stop for 15 min on the way to stretch and use bathrooms. They really need to get bigger Van. If you want more room , you can book a private tour.
The van and the road was very good, by large and clean van, the driver speaks Spanish but is by no means a guide, you are taken only to Bruges and the time is completely free, the description says guided tour by witches but they do not give you any guided tour, they give you a map showing you the most important places on the map and that is all the work so I say it is just a Spanish speaking driver that takes you to Bruges. The boat tour is very good, only it is in English and French, not available in Spanish, it would be good if it were mentioned when the tour is being hired in Spanish. The transfer is comfortable and punctual.
Cordialmente,
Excellent experience. Beautiful tour, Bruges is a small but fascinating city. Excellent also the driver/guide Jean Pierre. Highly recommended everything.
We were very excited to go on this tour to Bruges, but our excitement turned fairly quickly to disappointment. The "guided tour" was not as advertised. There was no tour and the "guide" was simply a van driver- and not a very good driver at that! While our “guide” was very nice, he was young and inexperienced. In fact, this was his first time "leading" this tour. He said virtually nothing the entirety of the interminable 9 hour van ride from Paris to Bruges and return. He did not even ask the group members to introduce themselves to each other! While he did answer a few questions on the way to Bruges, he did not have (or use) a microphone so only the people sitting in the front seat next to him could hear what he said. So we endured 9 silent hours in an uncomfortable van for the opportunity to wander around Bruges for 4 3/4 hours on our own - unescorted. To top it off, we were not even provided entry to the attractions that were to be included according to the published ad. For this experience the 4 of us paid nearly $800. It would have been easy for us to arrange to do this on our own for $80 each. To top this all off, I wrote to Viator with my complaints and asked for a partial refund. I was initially turned down out of hand. Their denial said that we could not get a refund after we didn't show up for the tour and didn't let them know ahead of time- a seemingly random response meant for another client since it had nothing to do with the issues I raised in my complaint letter. . So I wrote them back repeating my complaint again and providing them a very thorough and detailed explanation of how the tour we went on and paid for did not deliver what their own promotions had promised. They wrote me back the following: "As part of this review, we investigated all materials and pertinent information including (but not limited to) the product details on the tour page, your ticket, and any communications regarding this booking. Based on all available information, we regret to inform you that we are unable to issue a refund for this booking. We understand that this may not be a favorable resolution; however, we feel that all avenues have been thoroughly investigated. As such, we are unable to revisit this final decision." In summary, I would recommend against anyone ever using this company's tour packages. Not only did they fail to provide what they advertised, they took no responsibility for their failure. They do not sell their own products, but simply market local tour operators products and profit from being a middle man. This is not made clear until there is a problem and then they do not accept any wrong doing whatsoever. What a ripoff. Please beware when booking with this giant worldwide travel marketing conglomerate.
NOT A GUIDED TOUR. We were dropped off and left on our own. Complete waste of $$$. RIPOFF. No guide.
The tour was cancelled due to the lack of people and we are waiting for the refund. We were disappointed.
Recommended! The agency is punctual and well guided! The city is beautiful the excellent food! Don't forget waffles and chocolates. Some stores only accept cash!
