Itinerary
Begin your tour This tour of Athens takes us to the most famous sites of the city, both ancient and modern. Undoubtedly the most famous landmark of Athens – and the pride of Athenians - is the Parthenon, atop Acropolis Hill. It is the ancient temple, which was dedicated to Athena, the goddess Athens is named after. It is visible from most of central Athens and is surrounded by the city’s charming and picturesque historical center.
Visit the Hadrian’s Arch.
Visit the Temple of Zeus.
The Changing of the Guard at the Hellenic Parliament in Athens takes place in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Evzones, elite soldiers in traditional uniforms with pleated skirts and pom-pom shoes, perform a synchronized, ceremonial exchange every hour. This symbolic ritual honors fallen soldiers and is a must-see cultural experience. Visitors can witness the discipline, precision, and rich history of Greece’s proud military tradition.
The Old Olympic Stadium, also known as the Panathenaic Stadium, is a historic landmark in Athens, Greece. Built entirely of white marble, it hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Originally constructed in ancient times for the Panathenaic Games, it was later restored for the revival of the Olympics. With a capacity of 50,000 spectators, it remains a symbol of athletic excellence and history. Today, visitors can explore the stadium, walk its track, and feel the spirit of the Olympic legacy.
The Academy of Athens
The University of Athens
The National Library of Greece
Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the Acropolis, and the Aegean Sea. Visitors can hike or take a funicular railway to the top, where they’ll find St. George’s Chapel, a café, and an open-air theater. It’s a perfect spot for sunset views and capturing stunning photos of Athens.
Visit Lake Vouligmeni, see and take pictures from the top.

OUTSTANDING! Excellent communication; always on time. We scheduled at least 7 trips, from transfers to tours. We will keep Terry and his staff in our contacts.
It was an amazing experience. Couldn't recommend CATtaxi enough. We enjoyed this day so much. Terry took us all around Athens, should us all the highlights. Well done Terry showing around this amazing city.
We had a wonderful 8 hours with Sophia and Fanis. Sophia is an excellent tour guide. She explains everything there is to know about the place. She gave us tips to make this an unforgettable experience. Fanis is a very safe driver. With the very narrow streets of Athens he is able to bring the van up and down those zigzag roads. We are very lucky they upgraded our van and there is ample space for us. They brought us to this very nice restaurant Akporiani facing the Aegean Sea where we indulge in Greek specialties for lunch, steamed mussels, grilled octopus, calamari, seafood risotto and those Greek wrapped vine leaves. Overall this is an 11 out of 10 rating and I really enjoyed my first day in Athens
Sophia and Fanice were excellent guide and driver. Sophia was very pleasant and informative. Answers all our questions. Fanice was responsible driver and very nice. They upgraded us to a minibus which made the ride very comfortable for my 68 yr old parents and 11 yr old son. This tour takes up your whole day. After seeing spots in Athens, you can nap on the way to Cape Saunio with stop over for lunch. We never felt rushed and we got a little bit of information before going to a new place. We got to see alot of ruins. Cape Saunio was special place. The view is breathtaking, a different scene from Athens. Glad we took this personalized and private tour. Thank you Sophia and Fanice for day to remember!
Terry and his team are amazing. This tour hit all the highlights, efficiently and the guides were very knowledgeable. Lunch was fantastic. I also used them for hotel pick up which was seamless.
Holy cow this was by far our favorite day in Athens. Terry kept us busy but tailored the entire tour to our interests and needs. He not only made us laugh but was so super knowledgeable being that he is a local. He was such an angel, super polite and just lovely to be around. The car was extremely clean as well. He has amazing tips for local culture and great food recommendations. He was also a great resource and knowing we had a friend in town was a great feeling! We strongly suggest you and your family to book with CATTaxi and working with Terry and his team!!
Great tour with Terry, the company is very flexible and customer service driven, they made sure every comfort was provided from drinks to an amazing vehicle to spend the day driving in. Terry was an outstanding partner to share his love and knowledge of the Athenian history and Greek culture. My wife and I had no real plans to utilize these services originally. However, having spent the day with Terry and this company we couldn’t imagine walking away from Athens feeling as satisfied as we do and knowing that we truly saw everything there is to see. Had we not joined Terry this day we would have left Athens feeling like maybe we could have had more, Terry and this company delivers this experience and sentiment with 5 star’s and more.
We had an amazing experience visiting the highlights of Athens & Sounio with the private tour. Very personal service and they have a great knowledge of the historic sites. The driver was very friendly and they took care of all the COVID measures in these difficult times. There was a bit of a hot period in Athens and it was amazing having a new and comfortable car with great A/C. When we come back later this year we will be booking another tour with them for sure!
Terry our guide and driver was a wonderful historian and a very kind, easygoing man. We started at the Acropolis. Terry made it extra special by starting our tour at a little-visited ruins, which turned out to be the first place where people voted, with black and white stones...we were literally at the birthplace of democracy, just a stone's throw from the Acropolis but not at all crowded. It felt sacred there. Then the Acropolis, which was wonderful. Followed by the Temple of Zeus, the first Olympic stadium, the prime minister and president's homes where we saw the ceremonially dressed Presidential Guard. Another interesting side trip followed, to see the ruins where Plato taught Aristotle. Another less celebrated interesting site thanks to Terry! We stopped for lunch in a seaside town filled with locals, then off to Sounio, the Temple of Poseidon. After the Acropolis this may have been my favorite. Terry had a great sense of history; it was also interesting to hear about local life and how the Greek economy is slowly reviving. Highly recommend. Thanks again Terry!
What an amazing day we had with Terry! We did a private tour with just the 4 of us (2 couples from Canada). We did Sounio Cape in the morning and the drive down the coast was absolutely beautiful. The Temple of Poseidon is definitely a must! Terry suggested we do the Cape in the morning and the Acropolis in the afternoon to avoid the crowds - great suggestion! Terry provided some interesting history and information and kept us entertained during such a pleasant drive. We mentioned that we wanted to try homemade Greek "Bougatsa" - he took us to a small little town where we tried some and it was amazing! Thank you so much Terry for a fantastic day -- truly a memorable experience - Best Regards, from Canada
