Itinerary
The greatest and finest sanctuary of ancient Athens, dedicated primarily to its patron, the goddess Athena, dominates the centre of the modern city from the rocky crag known as the Acropolis.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympieion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is a former colossal temple at the center of the Greek capital Athens. It was dedicated to "Olympian" Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods.
The Changing of the Guard at the Parliament Building at Syntagma Square in Athens is a fun bit of pageantry worth watching if you find yourself in the area at 11 a.m. each morning. The special military unit, called Evzones, of the Hellenic Army, stands perfectly still before changing positions in front of the Hellenic Parliament.
At the Acropolis Museum, visitors can see the iconic Caryatids, the marble sculptures from the Parthenon, archaic sculptures like the Moschophoros, friezes from the Temple of Athena Nike, Propylaia, and the Nereid Monument, as well as ongoing archaeological excavations beneath the museum through the glass floor.
The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro (beautiful marble) is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main historic attractions of Athens, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble.
This is a drive-through ONLY if it is not busy with people (since it is almost a pedestrian area). Plaka is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. It is known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites.
Optional: The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center is a complex in the bay of Faliro in Athens which includes new facilities for the National Library of Greece (NLG) and the Greek National Opera (GNO), as well as the 210,000 m² Stavros Niarchos Park. The Center is a great location for enjoying the best view of Athens and its port Piraeus
OPTIONAL if any of the above/previous itinerary locations are not done: Piraeus town is not just its port. It is surrounded by water and private marinas with beautiful views of the Saronic Gulf and its islands. islands like Aegina, Poros, and the famous Hydra Island.

We had just one day in Athens after leaving our cruise ship! Our tour guide, Theo, was so conscious of our time and fit in all the highlights he could according to traffic conditions and locality. Our lunch was amazing, and it was a perfect day to eat outdoors at a quaint restaurant that Theo chose for us! We felt very catered to as we indulged in delicious traditional Greek dishes and their own version of baklava made with pistachios! Acropolis tickets are extra (20 Euros each), but so worth it if you have not been there! We waited too late to book ours online for the 8 or 9 am slots as our Eudaimonia planner, Nikos, recommended! Listen to him, and book those slots online ahead of time! He knows best! At 11 am, it is crowded with tour bus visitors! We chose not do the museum due to our time limit. The changing of the guards in Athens is different than any other you may have experienced! It’s a must-see! Theo timed everything perfectly to get us there just prior, drop us off, and no waiting to pick us up! Nikos’s wife also treated us to homemade cookies made with ousa and raisins! So, so delicious! An unexpected treat! We really hated for our tour to end and we saw much more than I’ve mentioned here! From our pickup at the cruise port to our drop off at our hotel, our 9 hours with Theo was well-spent and thoroughly enjoyed by four of us! We loved asking him all kinds of questions and getting to know him. We learned about his life as well as the culture there and the city of Athens! He was very knowledgeable, had just a charming personality and was such a gentleman! We felt we had the cream of the company’s tour guides! From the moment we booked, Nikos was in contact with us by email/What’s App to help him get to know us and make suggestions for our tour. Feel confident that when you book with Nikos at Eudaimonia Private Tours that your tour will be customized to your needs/likes and will be well worth your time and investment!
Thank you very much, Glenda! This sounds more like "a paid advertisement" than a real review! We really appreciate your effort in praising your experience with us! Once again, thank you very much for choosing our agency to explore Athens!
Amazing day seeing parts of Greece that usually does not get mentioned. The beautiful Temple of Posideon and incredible ocean views from up high. The flavorful food of Piraeus and incredible historical ship view of the trireme takes back in time to see what Greece ships looked like in the BC times on the water. Theo was extremely knowledgeable about Greek history and gave in depth information to help us understand and enjoy Greek culture and history. I recommend this to anyone that wants to see Greece as a local, not a tourist.
We are very happy that you have appreciated our efforts to cover both the historical, cultural, and food part of a real Greek experience, especially around a big city like Athens which is definitely touristy for our taste!
Nikos always made us feel welcome and at home. His recommendations for dining and touring sites were always excellent! Would love to book a tour with him again soon!
Thank you very very much!
