Embark on a timeless journey at our first destination, the Panathenaic Stadium. Steeped in history, this unique marvel invites you to immerse in its captivating past and capture stunning photographs that will treasure your memories forever. This world-renowned stadium, exclusively built from marble, originally dates back to the 4th century BC. Painstakingly restored in 1896 for the first modern Olympic Games, it stands as a testament to Greece's rich sporting heritage and cultural legacy. We're excited to welcome our distinguished air travelers to start their tour from this iconic landmark.
Syntagma Square, named for the Greek "constitution," is home to the Hellenic Parliament and key monuments, making it a focal point that offers insights into modern Greece's history and political evolution. Additionally, its bustling atmosphere and surrounding attractions reflect the vibrant culture and daily life of Athens.
The Changing of the Guard is a prestigious event outside the Hellenic Parliament. Featuring the Evzones, the Hellenic Army's elite and presidential guard, in traditional attire, this hourly ceremony honors the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and symbolizes Greece's national pride and historical legacy.
The Temple of Olympian Zeus was dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, and was intended to be the greatest temple in the ancient world. It served as a symbol of the power and wealth of Athens and was a focal point for religious and civic ceremonies.
The Pnyx Hill, famous for its breathtaking views ideal for capturing the Acropolis on camera, boasts a deep historical significance. Tracing its origins to around 507 BC, this hill was a pivotal site for public gatherings in Athens, gaining prominence following Cleisthenes' reforms that strengthened citizen participation. Located just beyond the city limits but easily accessible, the Pnyx provides a panoramic view of the ancient Agora, the former center of trade and social life in Athens. It's a perfect spot for memorable photography, adding a unique touch to your social media stories.
Discover one of the world's premier museums. The Acropolis Museum boasts an exceptional array of artifacts from the Acropolis, encompassing sculptures, friezes, and historical relics from the Greek Bronze Age through to Roman and Byzantine eras. Its impressive glass floors reveal the archaeological dig beneath, and the uppermost floor aligns seamlessly with the Parthenon, merging the museum's ambiance with the celebrated ancient ruins. More than a repository of historical treasures, this museum skillfully merges antiquity with modernity, offering a captivating and enlightening exploration of Greece's profound historical heritage.
Explore Plaka, situated at the base of the Acropolis. Renowned for its neoclassical architecture, this district boasts quaint boutiques, inviting cafes, and welcoming restaurants, drawing both tourists and residents alike. Its winding, maze-like streets, adorned with vibrant buildings, resonate with the melodies of live music and the aromas of traditional Greek dishes. Plaka encapsulates Athens' timeless allure, providing a scenic window into the city's storied past and vibrant culture.

My wife and I took a long time to plan our Athens tour. We came to Athens by cruise ship. The tour was great! We saw many old buildings and learned about the history. We also ate delicious food. It was a wonderful trip for us.
The highlight of my trip was visiting the iconic Olympian Temple of Zeus, which left me awestruck. The sheer scale and grandeur of this ancient wonder are a testament to the ingenuity and craftmanship of the ancient Greeks.
The highlight of the tour was Acropolis, ancient Agora. We also explored the temple of Olympian Zeus, the theater of Dionysus, and the stunning Monastiraki Flea market.
Louis showed us the highlights, shared fascinating stories, and made the tour so much fun. Athens is historical superb place you can visit it. I'm confident that you'll not regret.
First off, the transportation was super convenient. We booked a guided tour that included pick-up right at the port, which made life a lot easier so,no hunting for taxis or figuring out public transport. The drive from Piraeus to Athens took about 30 minutes, and we got to see some cool sights along the way. Once we reached the city, our first stop was the Acropolis. Honestly, standing in front of the Parthenon was breathtaking. Alex shared some amazing stories that really brought the place to life. Overall, the tour was well-organized and gave us a great overview of Athens in just one day.
that we did not get to visit the most important sight everything was a drive by except the Acropolis museum it was not worth the cost i am very disappointed it was my once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the acropolis and i missed it
We regret to hear about your disappointment but highly recommend paying closer attention to the tour options offered: 1. Private tour 2. Shared tour including Acropolis Museum 3. Shared tour including Acropolis Parthenon You booked the second option, which included exploring the interiors of the Acropolis Museum and the exteriors of the Acropolis Parthenon from Pnyx Hill by foot. If you had wanted to visit its interiors, you would have needed to book the third option, as some members of your group did. When we offered you an on-the-spot upgrade by paying the difference, you declined. Regarding your comment that “everything was a drive-by,” we’d like to clarify: the city overview portion of the tour by van lasted one hour, while the total tour duration was six hours—not to mention the two hours spent in Plaka. It seems there may have been some confusion, perhaps with another port. This is quite common for cruise passengers visiting multiple ports within one week. Safe travels!
