This beautiful ancient temple was originally sanctuary of the deified Theseus, the greatest ancient athenian hero, second only to Hercules greek hero. After the destruction of this temple by the enemies of the city it was rebuilt as temple of Hephaestus, ancient greek god of engineering and mechanics. It was built by the same engineers that after that construction built the great Parthenon and was built as a rehearsal for the greater project. This is why Theseion looks like a miniature of the Parthenon

What a lovely tour! Constantinos was the perfect host and was extremely amenable to whatever we wanted to do and see. He even found us a place to have a delicious snack at 11pm! We saw all the major sights (a tour earlier in the day was supposed to take us to the Acropolis, but a miscommunication meant we never made it there). Constantinos was good-natured and knowledgeable, and every time we returned to his extremely comfortable and spacious vehicle after a stop, another can of Greek beer or a bottle of sparkling wine appeared! We felt extremely well taken care of. He even presented us each with a gift bag at the end! A really special experience and a terrific way to see the city in comfort and style.
