The centre of the modern city is dominated from the rocky crag known as the Acropolis. It was Perikles in the fifth century B.C., who coordinated the construction of the site’s most important architectural masterpieces. The Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike, were erected during this period under the supervision of the greatest architects, sculptors and artists of their time. The Acropolis, also called the “Sacred Rock” of Athens, is the most important site of the city and constitutes one of the most recognizable monuments of the world !!!
Changing of guards ceremony
The Temple of Olympian Zeus found in the southeast of Athens is also referred to as Olympieion. Its construction lasted several centuries, from 510 BC to 131 AD and it is one of the greatest ancient temples of Zeus as well as one of the most famous marble buildings ever erected in the ancient world. There were originally 104 gigantic Corinthian columns 16 of which remain standing today, with one of them lying on the ground.
The only marble stadium in the world !!! The one that hosted the first modern Olympic games of 1896 !!!
The best panoramic view of Athens
The old neighborhood of Athens.
It had been an inspiration for almost 2500 years ! The man who first had the idea was Periandros the tyrant from Corinth. He found it difficult on the way but he came up to another interesting idea ! The name of it was diolkos. For those who had money and didn’t want to sail around Peloponnese peninsula. Finally after several people trying to succeed in this huge achievement, the canal was constructed in 1893 !
An important city-state of the ancient Peloponnese ! Its position was decisive for the commerce. Having as well very fertile soil it was considered to be the richest city of the ancient world ! Splendid buildings such as the Doric temple of Apollo (560 BC), the Isthmian Games (similar to those in Olympia), the agora, the fountain of Peirene, the Roman concert hall, the baths and so on are of great interest.

We absolutely loved our tour with Theodore. He spoke excellent English, very friendly, and he has a vast knowledge of the history of Athens and Corinth. We learned so much while on this tour. The van was also the perfect temperature. We loved the views from the highest point in Greece. He was also very flexible with allowing more time at certain locations if we needed it.
Thank you again for choosing us for your experience in Greece! Hopefully we will see you again for another experience and enjoy allways(in)Greece...
This was such a great tour. Corinth was really interesting and definitely worth a visit. The acropolis was also fantastic we really enjoyed our time there. We also got to see parts of athens we didn't even know existed. Plus our guide was wonderful and very informative. Would definitely recommend this tour.

George is a great driver. Very knowledgeable and courteous. He took us to the Corinth Canal, the ancient ruins and also set up an olive tasting at a local olive grove. It was a great tour and we had a fabulous time.
Thank you so much, we are looking forward to seeing you again !
