Arrive Alexandria around 10 am and start your day tour by visiting the Catacomb of Kom El-Shoqafa, hewn into a cliff, one of the world's largest Roman burial sites, and one of Alexandria's most popular attractions, where you see a blend of Pharaonic and Roman art. Descend into, via a spiral staircase over a three-level tombstone, a large Roman-style banquet room, where relatives used to sit on stone benches to feast in honor of the dead.
Proceed to the Roman Theater, of which seats are made out of marble stones and the floor has a big section of mosaic and a pleasure garden surrounded by Roman Villas and baths.
Our Alexandria day tour continues with a visit to the exterior of the medieval Citadel of Qaitbay, a defensive 15-century fortress built on the ruins of the light house of Alexandria; one of the ancient world's seven wonders of the Middle Ages. Continue to Al Mursi Abu Alabbas mosque(from outside), an elaborate structure built to honor a Sufi Saint, and have a free walk on the Cornish.
Drive along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and pass by the Alexandria Modern Library from outside, built between 1995 and 2002, to hold over 8 million books. We stayed in Cairo and planned a day trip to Alexandria. Manal was our tour guide for the day in Alexandria. Very thorough in her knowledge, very professional, excellent communication skills, very very hospitable and a great sense of humor! Overall one of the best persons one could have as a tour guide. I would highly recommend her services.
This is a fantastic trip at Alexandria. Our guide Manal is professional and knowledgeable. My girl likes to listen to her explanation on the tour. She also brought us to a nice resturant after listening to our request.
We were picked up by Nasr Youssef at 07:00 as planned assuming our tour started at 09:00 in Alexandria but it was actually starting at 10:00. He was the slowest driver on the desert highway. He rarely went more than 80 km/hr; everyone else even heavily loaded trucks hurtled past us. We finally arrived to meet our guide at 10:15. Overall, the tour itself was interesting but we were driven an hour in gridlock traffic to what had been a Palace. It’s not open for viewing and much of the compound is now hotels. Then we had to go an hour back through traffic before getting on the highway. We left Alexandria around 5 PM and got back at 9 PM. We begged him to please speed up. He said his car had a “limiter” on it and he couldn’t do more than 100 km/hr. Okay, then go 100 km/hr!!
Dear our customer, Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review on Viator, however your review doesn't make any sense considering your safety and life. We opened an investigation with Nasr about what happened but I wanted to inform you that he didn't exceed the speed limit, that the traffic department gave for the limo cars on the desert highway especially for the cars with tourists for your safety. In addition, you visited all the sightseeing mentioned in the itinerary and the Montaza garden describtion was to see the royal Palaces from outside (already was mentioned in the itinerary details on viator web page) because they are not opened for the public. We took your feedback seriously and removed the visit to the Montaza garden from the tour details. We are always keen to offer the best service ever and most important for us is the safety of travelers.
