Avoid

I go in order excursion of April 9 from Fes to Merzouga: 1) the van with which we started from Fez was very dirty, the two shelves where to place something dirty. When I pointed it out to the driver he said that that van was not his because his was broken and consequently did nothing to make us feel comfortable. 2) booked with a driver who also spoke Italian but spoke only English 3) on arrival at the checkin point and then continue to the camp I pointed out that in my purchased package there was also the scarf in the desert to make camel but always the driver with a despicable manager of Desert Camp Moulay looking at my reservation said that they were not from the Sami Trip agency. Bottom line, they wanted 200 dirhams for two veils. I was forced to buy one for my wife. 3) at desert camp moulay, bad, the next day at the alarm there was no water and it was no longer possible to wash. At breakfast the tables were so dirty from the previous night. The only consolation was given by nature with the desert that is beautiful to see.

Poorly organized and stressful experience

This tour with Sami Trip was poorly organized from start to finish. The pickup was delayed 1.5 hours with no explanation. The transport had no heating, and my luggage was left behind on the bus, with staff blaming me for it. I paid a solo traveler fee but was still given a shared tent. The tent was old with uncomfortable bedding, though the food and sunset were good. The return trip was worse—my assigned seat was broken, and staff rudely dismissed my complaint. Overall, a stressful experience. There are better companies to enjoy this trip without unnecessary hassles.

not to be trusted, tour got canceled way AFTER pick up time

Please beware before booking. We Booked weeks in advance via GetyourGuide and we looked for a tour operator with good reviews. Sami Trip seemed like a great option. Two days before the tour our Riad contacted Sami and he told us we would be picked up at 7 in the morning. On the day of the tour we were ready with our bags but no one came to pick us up... then, after we called him he promised to pick us up at our Riad in a few minutes. Again.. no one came. After calling him again he suddenly canceled the tour. Because of this we were not able to go to the Sahara Desert during our stay in Morocco. Big dissapointment. I would advise not to book this tour (or any other tours) with Sami Trip. As you have no guarantee that the tour will actually take place. On a positive note. We wil be getting a refund. So i dint think its a scam. I am also sure the positive reviews are all true (whenever the tour does actualy take place). Just be warned before you book.. and know that there is a chance the tour might be canceled.

DO NOT BOOK

Dreadful Experience, Lack of Responsiveness, Deserted Without Transportation in Blistering Heat. Initially, we were excited about our trip and had meticulously planned everything. Sami initially seemed attentive and friendly, but his behavior drastically changed on the day of the trip. Despite numerous assurances about visiting various sites, transportation, and sandboarding, none of these promises were kept. During the lengthy 7-hour journey from Fez to Merzouga, Sami blamed adverse weather conditions and bypassed all stops except for excessively expensive locations. Upon arrival in Merzouga, our anticipation for sandboarding, as promised, was met with confusion from the guides, who claimed ignorance of our requests. The following morning, our return trip to Marrakech, included in the package, failed to materialize. Left stranded under the scorching sun for hours, our attempts to contact Sami went unanswered. We ultimately had to arrange alternative transportation at our own expense, after pleading with the locals. Despite a satisfactory camel ride and overnight stay in the tent, our overall experience was marred by the distressing situation and lack of professionalism displayed by Sami.

Do not Book from SamiTrip

TERRIBLE. UNRESPONSIVE. LEFT US IN THE SCORCHING SUN WITHOUT ANY TRANSPORTATION BACK. We were very excited about this trip and had arranged everything. Sami was very responsive and friendly till the day of the trip. He made lots of promises about visiting multiple places, transportation and sand boarding. None of which were delivered. 1) In the 7 hour drive from Fez to Merzouga - he said the climate was bad and did not stop anywhere besides for places that were extremely expeensive. 2) Once we reached Merzouga, we were looking forward to Sandboarding which was promised. When we asked the guides there, they pretended as though they don’t understand what we were saying. 3) Next day morning, ride back to Marrakech was part of the package. But there wasn’t any bus for us. We were left waiting in the scorching sun for hours and Sami HUNG UP our call and stopped responding to our messages. We ultimately had to pay another local taxi to reach Marrakech (that too after a lot of requesting and pleading to the locals). Although the camel ride and overnight stay in the tent was good, our overall experience felt more like a survival than a vacation because of SAMI.

Fabulous trip to Sahara desert 🏜

The trip to the desert was brilliant! Everything was well planned and went smoothly. Hassan - the driver, made the long trip manageable with his calm attitude, frequent stops for rest, scenic views, feeding the monkeys and chilled music in the car. The camel ride itself was unique experience among the majestic Sahara dunes. The tents in the camp are clean, with Everything provided for a comfortable night in the desert. They offered us traditional dinner and music entertainment . The most magical moment was probably the night starry sky and the sunrise over the desert !!! I can only recommend everyone to experience for themselves this breathtaking trip ! Thank you !

Personalized attention. Trip to remember.

I have been to Morocco on many occasions and I can still say that the experience has been unique and the trip unforgettable. Sami helped us at all times and even made every possible effort to find us extra transportation that would make our trip even more complete. This personalized attention is greatly appreciated when they manage so many tourists at the same time.

Discovery of the atlas and the desert

Great stay with discovery of the atlas, and the desert near Merzouga, the Berber villages, with a great driver Hassan who was at the top. I recommend 😁🙏

Beautiful adventure, well taken care of!

Had a very nice two-day excursion. Our driver/guide Tarik was extremely nice and super relaxed! Don't be put off by the long journey, because the journey is part of the experience. Every 2 hours there is a stop at an interesting place. For example, we have seen snow, like monkeys in the Middle Atlas. Later enormous rock formations in the High Atlas. The hygiene of the toilets along the way is also excellent (even though I read other things about it in other reviews). The highlight of the trip has to be the time in the Sahara. Both on the camel and snowboarding down the sand dunes; it's spectacular. The camp was also very well cared for. The tents were very spacious and super clean. Bathroom with shower (with hot water!) was above our expectations. In the evening we danced to Berber music around the campfire. Very fun adventure with great guidance!

Super!

Had a great trip! Very good atmosphere and super friendly driver Hassan (and very good driver). The way there and back are really beautiful, very changing landscape and nice stops. You stop at places where you can buy something, but no one forces you. Also stops in the snow, at a beautiful lake and beautiful views over the mountains. Hassan takes you to fun and tasty lunch spots. The overnight stay in the desert was super fun! Very friendly people, nice place to spend the night and good food in beautiful surroundings.

Good experience

Our driver Hassan was amazing. He speaks multiple languages so could communicate with all passengers; English, French, German, Italian, Arabic, probably more! He timed our stops well so we made sunset on time, which often meant rounding up stragglers! He was always polite. The accommodation is beautiful. Large, luxury tents with huge beds and private bathrooms; although there is no hot water. The staff treated us to some music around a fire after dinner with drums and singing, it was really wholesome. A abundance of cultural food is provided for dinner and breakfast. The dunes are absolutely stunning. My one star less than 5 is because lunch on both days is quite “expensive” and options are limited. Day 1 lunch was 8-10€ and day 2 was 11-13€. Compared with prices everywhere else in Morocco, this is steep so be sure to factor it into your budget/the trip cost or take your own snacks from your origin.

Memorable Moroccan Desert Experience

There is a lot of driving on this tour and our driver Hassan was great at keeping us on time, allowing appropriate breaks and informing us about the region. He is from the area and seems to know most people, which is nice. He speaks many languages and tries to accommodate everyone. The desert itself is pretty amazing, the sunset was good and the sunrise even better. Everything was pretty well organised with decent food (nothing spectacular), entertainment and fire at night and breakfast in the morning. The lunch options on the way aren’t great, but you are kind of stuck with what you have. The tent was really well equipped and quiet. The lack of hot water was an issue.

Extremely disappointed

We made a reservation through Viator for our trip and were incredibly disappointed with the overall experience. Here's a summary of our encounter: The designated pick-up point was not honored, forcing us to transport our four suitcases approximately a kilometer to the actual pick-up location. Maneuvering the suitcases on Moroccan roads proved to be exceptionally challenging. The group tour bus was a disaster. It was a small bus with cramped seating that could barely accommodate a person comfortably. Several individuals opted out upon seeing the seating arrangement, making the 9-hour journey dreadful. Please refer to the attached pictures. The bus stopped at designated restaurants, all of which were exorbitantly priced. The restrooms were in disarray, leading to a chaotic situation. Please refer to the attached pictures. In the desert, conditions improved slightly, but to our surprise, we had to bribe for a room heater. Despite the freezing temperatures, many people did not have cash and were only offered multiple blankets, which seemed unfair. The return trip was extremely disappointing. Although we were booked for Marrakesh, the bus failed to show up. We were left waiting in the scorching sun as agents repeatedly promised the bus would arrive in the next 10 minutes. After an hour of waiting, the bus never showed, and we were eventually placed in a small local taxi. It was uncomfortable, cramped, and barely accommodated both our luggage and us on the 12-hour journey to Marrakesh. Our entire Moroccan trip was marred by these transportation issues. We strongly advise against booking with Morocco Memory Travel. We are currently seeking a full refund from Viator as several of us fell ill, and some had to cancel their plans.

Exhausting hours on the road.

The travel is very long on either side. 8 hours fes to desert and 12 hours to Marrakech the next day. The camel ride was amazing and our guides took the most incredible pictures for us! I booked the end of November so bring your jackets if you choose to travel in The off season!! It’s very chilly! The lunch stops have limited options so bring your own food if you have special dietary needs. You will get dropped off at the shell station ( I was under the impression we had hotel drop off and pick up) and did t get into marakech until 930pm. Great hospitality at the camp and wonderful traditional music/ drumming.

Once in a lifetime view

It was the best experience I've ever had in my life. It was a long journey from Fez to Merzouga, but it was worth it. However, it gets really cold at night, so you need to take precautions. We stayed in tents, but there were no heaters, so it was the same as sleeping outside.

Desert experience

Getting to the desert camp is a long way so having snacks and water is essential before stops for toilet breaks and lunch were made by the van driver. Seats are small. The camel ride, view of the sun set, walk on the sand dunes and sun rise is an experience. Do not expect great meals though.

Beautiful experience

Excellent experience, absolutely worth it. The journey is a tad tiring, the bus takes many hours and the intermediate stops are essentially small stops just for a coffee/lunch or to go to the bathroom. The changes in landscape that can be admired along the way are spectacular. As soon as you arrive at the edge of the desert you are welcomed with a tea that is truly refreshing, there is a right break before leaving with the camels. Upon arriving in front of the dunes you are faced with an indescribable spectacle. There, we enjoyed more than an hour of dune trekking and gazing at that memorable sunset. Upon returning from the desert we were welcomed into a beautiful camp equipped with all comforts, the tent we stayed in was lovely and extremely clean. At all times our hosts were extremely dedicated and attentive, very young guys but very good at their job.

Great destination but best with another tour operator

We decided to go with Viator and Samitrips because of their solid ratings. The destination was great but the trip itself was confusing and Viator didn't do much to help us out. The tour details said 10 people max, we were roughly 19 (like they tried to cram as many ppl as possible). There was no guide, only the driver. The first stop for coffee was in a hotel restaurant with no food (sigh) only drinks. The description said stop in Midelt for lunch and we passed it by at least one hour before stopping. When asked the driver about lunch, he got impatient and answered grudgingly yes yes in 2 minutes. (if you're not a people person, don't work in tourism). We sent a message to Viator asking if we were on the right trip because many things were off, they said they would contact Samitrip and we never heard back from them. There was only a brief description of the tour at the very beginning (at pick up) and the rest we had to discover for ourselves. The stops were quite short and untimed. Another description in the tour was sand skiing which never happened. the camel ride was nice and our berber guide took some nice pictures of us. Once we were settled in all was ok at the camp site. However we felt the lack of communication as to what was next and how to get our tents. We were told we had to register in a booklet. Our tent was nice and spacious, sadly there was no hot water left when we took our showers. The show was nice and the stargazing was out of this world. It was a great experience to visit the desert, one we do not regret. However we would recommend others to consider a private tour if this is in their budget, secondly we would not recommend Viator nor Samitrips because of the lack of feedback and help. Plus the described tour is not as it's written. Lastly, the restaurant stops are done at 3* places from Google maps. Do yourself a favour and check for nearby restaurants with better ratings! Samitrips and Viator, you are welcome to get in touch with us if you have any questions or would like additional information. Thank you -
