Wilpattu National Park | Private Safari

Description
The park is 1,317 square kilometers (131, 693 hectares) and ranges from 0 to 152 meters above sea level. Nearly one hundred and six lakes (Willu) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu. Wilpattu is the largest and one of the oldest National Parks in Sri Lanka. Wilpattu is among the top national parks world-renowned for its leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) population. A remote camera survey was conducted in Wilpattu from July to October 2015 by the Wilderness & Wildlife Conservation Trust. A sample of forty nine individual leopards were photo-captured in the surveyed area and the core area density was between that of Yala National Park's Block I and Horton Plains National Park.

A great experience with our guide Pasindu, also called "lynx eye"! We saw an elephant, many deer and deer, 2 foxes, a mongoose, many buffaloes and peacocks... and the highlight of the show, 2 leopards, in 2 different places. A truly incredible experience! I advise you to come with a camera equipped with a zoom, we regretted not being better equipped to bring back beautiful memories. Fortunately, our guide lent us binoculars!
Everything when smoothly, our guide was nice and knowledgeable. We had enough time to see the whole park, observe animals and even interact with the monkeys. I definitely recommend this experience
Very nice, we saw crocodiles and an elephant, a lot of birds. The guide was kind. The sunset on the landscapes was epic...
Driver is experienced with good eye sight. Saw different birds and animals. The tour operator reached out to make sure everything is smooth and easy for the day.
Had a great safari! We were picked up on time, food was neatly catered for and we had a very good driver who really spotted animals everywhere. After a long search even face to face with the leopard. It is a long and intensive day but also a very nice experience
Great day at Wilpattu. We have seen a lot of animals, including the well sought after Leopard! We had great communication with Trav Ceylon before hand who helped organise additional food for my son. The park is busy, but not as busy as some of the others, so well worth the visit. Only remark would be that it would have been a bit easier to communicate if the guide would have had more English skills...but we managed!
Wilpattu is a huge and beautiful national park. I went for a full day Safari, for a total of 12 hours. I got to see elephants, crocodiles, monkeys swinging from tree to tree and many other animals. Going into the park, I was expecting to just “sit back and watch animals”. Instead, I experienced a constant thrill of searching to spot the next animal while we drove across sandy roads, along beautiful lakeshores and through forests. To add to this experience: each time we would meet another jeep, both the drivers and passengers would share updates about which animals they spotted where! I rarely felt bored throughout the 12 hour experience. Beforehand, I worried a bit about being in the heat outside for 12 hours. But sitting in the back of the jeep with a roof was comfortable. Even though it was hot outside, the breeze from driving was more than enough to keep me cool. I didn’t put on any sunscreen and didn’t even get a sunburn. As a little bonus, there was a family of monkeys at the spot we had lunch. And the little ones used the back of the jeep as a playground while we ate lunch and watched. Very cute! But be sure not to leave anything they may steal, or soon you will find yourself negotiating with a monkey in a tree to return your water bottle! For children with a shorter attention span, a half day safari may be more ideal. As adults it is easy to forget children experience time much more slowly. Towards the end of the 12 hours, I did see some children who were very tired.
Totally recommend. The safari was a good experience and we were able to see amazing wild life. Our service manager Mr. Pasindu Rukshan Rathnayake was very nice as well.
We had a good time, saw a lot of different birds including an eagle, a crocodile and some water buffalos. Thanks for the grear Tour.
