Moonstone, considered to be the most valuable variety of feldspar, is the opalescent variety of orthoclase (an opaque to transparent potassium feldspar). Its schiller or adularescence is caused by the intergrowth of two different types of feldspar, with different refractive indexes. Like labradorite, it has an opalescent quality, caused by the reflection of light from the internal structure. Moonstone is usually whitish-blue, but can be colorless, yellow, orange, gray, or even reddish.

The Galle Fort, or Dutch Fort as it is also known, is a fortification first built by the Portugese on the Southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. The initial fortifications, which were built in the late 16th century, were quite basic. However the fort underwent extensive modifications in the 17th century by the Dutch, making it one of the most important archeological, architectural and historic monuments to illutrate the European influence in South East Asia between the 16th and 19th centuries. According to a statement by UNESCO the site was recognized as a World Heritage Site for its unique exposition of an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries which is the criteterion number four for such recognition.

We saw a lot of interesting things on this trip. The driver was very helpfull all the time. Keen in mind that the boat trip is exclusive and will be carried out at bad weather conditions too. Anyway we saw Blue Whales and that was real exciting..nice trip!! Afterwards we where in Galle Fort....it is recommendable too.

Whales watching

The trip was awesome, we visited a lot of cool places through the tour. We saw some dolphins and awesome shark. Unfortunately, no whales came to us. The driver was cool and told interesting stories about Sri Lanka. He was professional, polite and drove carefully.
