Description

This experience offers a more complete and relaxed way to explore Arusha National Park in just one day. Instead of only doing a traditional game drive, you’ll experience the park in three different ways — on foot, by canoe, and in a safari vehicle. Walk through the park with an armed ranger while getting surprisingly close to giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and other wildlife in their natural environment. Continue with a peaceful canoe safari across the Momella Lakes, surrounded by flamingos, hippos, and beautiful views of Mount Meru before finishing the day with a scenic game drive through forests, open plains, and crater landscapes. Because the park is smaller and less crowded than many northern safari parks, the experience feels quieter, more personal, and closer to nature — perfect for travelers who want something active, scenic, and different from a standard safari.

Walking Safari (2–3 Hours) Upon arrival, meet your professional guide and armed ranger for a guided walking safari. Explore the park on foot, getting closer to wildlife than a vehicle allows. Learn about animal tracks, plants, and ecosystems while encountering giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and scenic waterfall within the park for a refreshing nature break. Canoe Safari (Momella Lakes) Continue to the Momella Lakes for a canoe safari (weather dependent). Glide quietly across the water, observing hippos, flamingos, and other birdlife with Mount Meru as your backdrop. Game Drive Safari After lunch, enjoy a classic game drive through the park’s varied landscapes—open plains, forest, and crater lakes—spotting wildlife from a wider perspective before returning to your hotel in the evening.

Beautiful park, few animals

Day trip to Arusha national park was top arranged and the park itself was beautiful. The tour on foot was fun, because you are usually in the car. You'll certainly get up to 30 feet from a giraffe. Was a short round, though. And in the afternoon by car through the park. Very nice park, only there are few animals.

Operator response

Dear Mark, Thank you very much for your kind review—we’re delighted to hear that you had a well-organized and enjoyable day in Arusha National Park. We’re glad you enjoyed the walking safari. It’s a unique experience to explore on foot and get close to wildlife, such as giraffes, in a way that is very different from traditional game drives. We also appreciate your comments about the length of the walk and the number of animals. Arusha National Park is known for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful landscapes, and the opportunity for walking safaris. As a smaller and less crowded park, it naturally has fewer large animals compared to other parks, but this is also what makes it a more relaxed and unique experience. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you again in Tanzania. Warm regards, Africa Pathways Team

Arusha National Park guide service.

Arusha National Park is a park small enough for a one day visit. It has a ranger guided walking safari that ends at a nice waterfall. We were up close and personal with many giraffes. African Pathways is an excellent choice for the day trip. They offer quality guides. Alfred was very helpful with all the arrangements.
