It is easy to find in the city centre near the Hard Rock Cafe. It was absolutely excellent! The gent who led the tour (I feel awful for forgetting his name!) but he was absolutely brilliant, a natural and so knowledgeable! He made the experience enjoyable, and was very fluent in the history of Austrian wine (which sounds like it’s had its ups and downs - 1980’s in looking at you). He was brilliant and the wine and tasting was excellent!
I am so happy that I chose this experience even though I am not a wine person. The wine’s and pairings were delicious! Cornelius gave an amazing history and made things easy to understand and fun! In addition, the store has some great products for souvenirs and for yourself too.
A very knowledgeable guide explained Vienna’s top quality wines and viticulture in an ancient cellar. Our guide offered generous samples of 3 different wines and a small dish of bread and charcuterie. There were very helpful visual references and the whole experience was well explained to a newcomer.
Brilliant experience, very knowledgeable host, at a venue full of surprises. The wine and accompanying food was well thought out
The wine tasting at Haas and Haas shop in Vienna was excellent. Cornelius our tasting guide was very good. The group was 11 people and lasted about 1 hour. The visit started by Cornelius taking the group down to the cellars under the shop for a look around and gave us a short history. The tasting was at a long table in part of the cellar. The cellars were empty apart from the wine tasting table. We tasted 3 Austrian wines, two whites and a red. All were very good and different. We were also given a small platter of meat, cheese, bread and dip to try with the wines. We have been on several wine tastings around Europe and the amount of wine given was about right for a good tasting. The group had first timers and more experienced wine tasters and Cornelius made sure all were included. He talked about the wines and the history of Austrian wine making and the grapes and what he saw in each wine so lots of information. The only downside was 3 Americans talking loudly all the time to each other while Cornelius was explaining things to the group. This was a good well-paced introduction to Austrian wines. Cornelius was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and made this a very good experience. If you want to try Austrian wines with a good guide then I would recommend you book this experience.
Brilliant experience with a very knowledgeable owner. Had a great time tasting the wine in a lovely atmosphere.
I visited on Wednesday the 12th. I didn't catch the name of our guide, I apologize, but he did an excellent job. I enjoy alcohol only occasionally, so I am not overly experienced with wine, but nevertheless I felt very welcome and at ease (helped too by the company of a nice and more knowledgeable English couple who were in my group--shoutout to them as well). It was interesting to learn about some of the many, many details and history as well; definitely something for further reading. And, I appreciate being accommodating with English. Danke schön!
We were very impressed with this wine tasting. Not only did we enjoy three fantastic wines from the Vienna region but through the host Cornelius we learned a lot about Vienna.
Great experience. In the ancient cellars with a very knowledgeable guide. Our group was small so we had personal service. Learned the history and specifics of Austrian wine making. Highly recommend this tour.
Tour of multilevel cellars under wine shop. Explanation of historical place and use. Small plate of cheeses, salami, bread and spicy apricot jam to accompany the wines. Tasting of three wines from Vienna area - two white and one red. Displays on the wall to show different categories of wines in Austria were very helpful. Our guide and server was very informative and humorous. The entire experience was fairly short but covered enough information to give us an appreciation for Austrian wines. Recommend the tasting.
