Vallea Lumina Multimedia Evening Experience
Description
Join an evening excursion and follow cryptic radio transmissions and the lingering traces of two long-ago hikers to find the scenic trailhead where the real journey begins. This pathway leads toward a place filled with beauty, and proof that the legends of Whistler are true. Moment Factory, a global leader in video, lighting, sounds and special effects, will bring Whistler’s forests to life this summer with a brand-new show. This 1.5 km (summer) / 1km (winter) trail through an old growth forest will take visitors of all ages on an hour-long multimedia night walk in pursuit of hidden wonders. The entire experience takes place outside within a trail network which is partially levelled but not asphalted. The course initially heads up the hillside through a moderate gradient and a few sets of stairs before heading back down - the back half of the course is flatter. Including up and down, there are roughly 275 staircase steps.

Every evening after the sun sets, the magic of Vallea Lumina begins. This activity is family friendly and all ages are welcome to marvel at the hidden wonders of forest. Guests will arrive at our quaint Cougar Mountain basecamp, where they can enjoy free parking, offerings from our Café like hot chocolate, cookies and s'mores kits that can enjoyed by our fire-pits and washroom facilities. At tour time, guests will be check in by our Rangers and begin the 1km trail through an enchanted forest. The unpaved trails winds through the forest and over rivers, with magical lights and mysterious sounds guiding the way. Vallea Lumina leads toward a place filled with beauty, and proof that the legends of Whistler are true.

- This is an outdoor experience that runs rain, snow or shine. Travellers must be physically fit to walk the unpaved trail in winter conditions.
- Our Summer course involves stairs and is not suitable for those with mobility challenges.

The Vallee Lumina experience was one of the pre-booked activities we were most looking forward to and I have to say it probably exceeded all of our expectations. Wasn't strenuous even for the 9 year old in our group and because of the way the spectacular elements were spaced out it seemed very well paced and calming. Highly recommend this experience for anyone of any age, looking for childlike wonder in gorgeous surroundings. It's not cheap, but so worth it!!
This was a magical experience for the kids at night. The lights and music were super cool and it wasn't creepy at all walking in the forest at night. The kids really enjoyed it.

It was so cool!! The forest was magical. There are a lot of stairs throughout the experience but doable. We loved the "base camp" and staff too. We highly recommend and would bring friends to do it again!

DO NOT RECOMMEND. The website is highly misleading. While framed as an immersive forest walk, it actually tells a story of abduction of a grandfather and his granddaughter. We brought our children anticipating an impressive light show as one sees from the website as well as marketing videos, but the creepy sounds, haunting storyline, and frankly short experience (< 30 minutes) made for something that meaningfully varied from expectations. It left our kids (4 year old and 6 year old) terrified. Worse yet, I reached out The Adventure Group to express concern and frustration and they didn’t even write back. This wasn’t that surprising after we watched major mishaps with some of the groups trying to attend the show the night we were going. They don’t seem to have their stuff together, and the marketing of this experience felt intentionally misleading to extract money from patrons.

This experience is incredible. Awesome beautiful lights everywhere you look and holograms make this one of the most incredible light shows I’ve ever seen. You don’t want to leave……. I wanna live here.. 🥰 The running river with the salmon was amazing. I felt about this like the first time I saw Cirque du Soleil.….. pioneering.

As a Senior couple we found several issues. The shuttle location was hard to find (no directions to the location). The trail description is inaccurate for summer as there are multiple stairs with poor railings (slippery wood or loose rope rails). The inclines were quite steep and sometimes in places slippery. Fall hazards are numerous (we used a flashlight for our safety). The theme is magical and visual effects are meaningful, but this tour is best left to the more physically able (245 stairsteps!
