Amazing experience getting to learn about Vietnamese agriculture and history + cooking delicious meals! My tour guide Alice was extremely knowledgeable and friendly:) Highly recommend
A terrific day with Chef Alice learning how to make a number of delicious Vietnamese dishes and some time visiting the Cu Chi tunnels. A nice way to spend a little time out side of HCMC. Alice was a great communicator with lots of helpful information about the fresh ingredients and clear instructions, she was particularly good guiding our 11 year old son in his cooking efforts. Would definitely recommend.
It was a wonderful experience , enjoying nature, learning about various types of herbs, plants, fruit trees. plucking your own vegetables to cook later. Understand techniques to pull the raddish / lemon grass roots up. Chef Holi was very patience explaining each type of plants / trees to us as we explore the farm and as we start preparing the ingredients, making the sauces, he tests us 5 finger rules, 4 finger rule, and father+ mother sauce. You never forget them. We get to taste every dish instantly after cooking, when it is hot and crispy. Is Yuumylicious ! Food of your Labor. Will surely practise them when we return to our country. Thanks Chef Holi and HCM Cooking School.
Amazing experience but even more amazing being hosted by such lovely people. Our guide Alice was so friendly and lovely to talk to on top of being a great teacher.
The HCM cooking class, led by Alice, was so much fun! From picking the vegetables and herbs and fruits ourselves in the adjacent organic garden to the step by step help in preparing a delicious meal, all the details to make it the most meaningful for us were made. The menu, the set up, utensils, happy vibes--all of it was there and Alice was delightful. Highly recommend fitting this in a trip.
We had a great day thanks to Alice, our wonderful guide. At the farm, I was able to learn about various kinds of vegetables and herbs growing in Vietnam. In the cooking class, we had fun cooking with quizzes. After that, we went on a tour of the Kuchi Tunnel. Alice played a big role here too, and it was a very easy-to-understand explanation, and a very fulfilling time. Thank you, Alice.
I took a vegan Vietnamese cooking class in Ho Chi Minh City with Alice, and it was excellent. Alice is a genuinely strong teacher, especially in how she helps you remember things. When we made sauces, she used simple analogies and memory shortcuts to lock in the ingredient ratios, so it stuck in my head instead of vanishing the moment class ended. The class was vegan-friendly and felt intentional, not awkward. Alice showed how to get the right Vietnamese balance of salty, sour, sweet, and heat using plant-based ingredients, and the results still tasted recognizably Vietnamese. She also made the experience personal. She even gave me a Vietnamese name, Trí, which was a small moment but captured her vibe: attentive, encouraging, and engaged with her students. If you’re vegan (or just want a great class) and you actually want to learn techniques you’ll reuse at home, Alice’s class is an easy recommendation.
I went for the half day farm tour and cooking class because I was searching for a halal option on tiktok and this place popped up. Texted in WhatsApp to check their availability and confirmed my reservation. They don't ask initiate asking on what expectations or what sort of dishes I was interested in learning I just decided to went along with it and kept an open mind. I think if you had any Vietnamese dish you'd want to learn if you asked then prior and choose from what's available in the list of menu they's me more and happy to accommodate to it. As a solo traveller I was pleasantly surprised that I was the only one taking the class that day which was amazing as I had a one on one experience with all the farm workers and Alice the tour guide she picked me up at my hotel early morning and the from then on I had quite the adventure on the car ride heading to the farm got into an accident but nothing major and kept the spirit of adventure alive. Alice was so bubbly respectful and I enjoyed talking to her as she kept me company the whole time and giving me instructions and a brief summary of all that it is to know about Vietnamese cuisine and the plants they grow in the farm They have a lot of potential to grow and they have been sustaining the farm and the cooking class for quite a while already. And I think they really need alot of patronage from more visitors to improve and further develop and maintain their facilities and quality of their services. Overall I left the farm and completed the cooking class feeling peaceful and inspired after experiencing a different side of Vietnam and getting to make and taste their cuisine was just thrilling.
I had a great time with our guide Alice! She was really kind and knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. I am usually more of a wanderer when I travel, and I don’t often book activities. I wasn’t sure how the cooking class would go, but I was glad that I decided to go! Everything was set up conveniently, and the food we made was good too! I would recommend if you have the time!
Due to (fortunate) circumstances beyond our control, my companion and I were the only two in Alice's cooking class. It was an unforgettably wonderful class--lots of detail, much encouragement, and tolerance of my less-than-perfect kitchen skills. I recommend it without reservation.
