Easy 8km walk from La Ville to Monteriggioni. Well paced walk. Guide was a nature guide and could point out animals, trees and fruit along the way.
Beautiful hike with very knowledgeable guide on the Via Francigena, up to Monterregioni for a lovely wine tasting. Hike was longer than I thought based on Viator description; but guide was great and very flexible.
Pick up at Siena train station with a van from the well organized Tour Provider to the departure point, Osteria Ceppo, beautiful local restaurant. Active experience for nature lovers and hikers, educational tour with a passionate guide on the Via Francigena, a short stretch (8km) of this pilgrimage road that runs from Canterburry to Rome and possibly even further. This tour ends in the old must see Monteriggione, with a small wine tasting on site❤️ A bus ticket is provided for the way back to Siena. Fine arranged👍Thank you.
Giovani was very informative, ofcourse he knew a lot about the area but also the plants / trees we saw during our walk. We really enjoyed his company and it was a fun 4 hours. Will recommend to friends.
What can I say? I loved this tour so much in 2025 I booked it again for my trip in 2026! Walking on the Via Fragcigena through the Tuscan countryside is my happy place! Our guide, Giovanni, did a wonderful job of explaining everything from the history of the area to the plants growing along the path. I could do this tour with every visit to Siena! Highly recommend!
Wonderful guided hike through the beautiful countryside: our guide Giovanni was excellent - educated us on the history of the area and the trail as well as the plant life. We wound up being the only ones on the tour the day we went. Wear good shoes - part of the trail is rocky. There are some inclines but overall a doable hike. We enjoyed the winery at the end and stayed there for lunch after the tasting. Thanks Giovanni for a grea lt morning. We learned so much
A fantastic walk with a really lovely informative guide. Very easy hiking about 10km. Would suggest hiking boots/shoes has it has many stones on the trail. Wine tasting after was great, gorgeous place and the wine was spec. Ended up having lunch at the same place which was really yummy! Highly recommend, such a great way to see the rolling hills of Tuscany and get out of the crowds!
Gorgeous views. Great trail so interesting about the stages of the via Francigena trail. The ending point was lovely. Nice wine and able to buy nice lunch Guide was outstanding, super knowledgeable of all the plants and areas we were in
Giovani was a great guide- fun, very informative, easy to talk with. So knowledgeable about the plants, region and history... Definitely a highlight not to be missed if you like hiking (walking) and want to enjoy and learn about the area. Wine at the end was great too!
This is a leisurely stroll through the Tuscany countryside. During the hike, the guide teaches participants about the history of castles, the history of the pilgrimage you experience (you are walking 5 miles of the Via Francigena; which begins in Rome and ends in Canterbury) and the importance of many of the trees, plants and herbs along the trail. The guide departs at this point; giving bus tickets to return to Siena. Participants then do get a small Chianti wine tasting. There is a lunch table prepared outside and participants can choose small plates to eat while choosing a wine to drink. The food and wine is not included; this is an additional cost. Giovanni was a wonderful guide; friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate about his culture and the natural environment.
