Tuna auction at Toyosu Market with qualified guide and early morning tour of Tsukiji Outer Market
Description
This is an early morning private tour of Toyosu and Tsukiji Outdoor markets led by an experienced, nationally accredited tour Guide. Tour Guides are knowledgeable about markets and fish. On this tour, you will meet in front of Yurikamome Line Ichiba-mae Station, observe the auction of tuna at Toyosu Market, and then transfer to Tsukiji by public transportation (local bus) to explore the off-site market. Enjoy two fish markets, one old and one new, from early morning. Taxis are recommended unless the hotel is near Toyosu Market. Let's enjoy the morning fish market together!

Watch the tuna auction from the visitor aisle on the second floor of the Fisheries Wholesale Building. You can also visit the Fisheries Wholesale Wholesale Building and the Fruit and Vegetables Building if you wish.
Stroll through Tsukiji's off-market. Here you can enjoy a variety of tastings for free and buy first-class ingredients and cooking utensils from all over Japan. There are also many popular sushi restaurants that you can taste after the tour. Come and enjoy one of Tokyo's most popular spots!

The tuna auction alone made the early morning worth it. Our guide, Nobu, was knowledgeable and kept the tour focused since it’s shorter. Tsukiji Outer Market can feel overwhelming, but going early helped—less crowded and easier to enjoy. Easy recommend.

Very different than the original version. We hadn't been there in 15 years. What replaced a pretty unique experience being part of the up front witness of the tuna auction and then walking outside to indulge in fresh tuna and assorted seafood is now an impressive modern structure that keeps you at some distance from the action. Still a remarkable thing to witness in person.
Thank you very much for your review. As you say, the tuna auction has changed a lot since it was in Tsukiji, but I still think it's worth a visit. There are also some improvements for us. In the old Tsukiji Market, we had to wait for hours and could only view for 10 to 15 minutes, but now if you go during the tuna auction, you can safely view for about an hour until the end. I would be very happy if I could help you enjoy viewing the tuna auction more. Nobu

Nobu-san: what a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. He met us promptly at 5:15 AM at the tuna auction market. He was very informative and answered our questions in very good English. After the auction, he took us to the Outer Market where we had lunch at a small, authentic sushi restaurant. He gave us an overview of Japanese history, Shinto, and the introduction of Buddhism to Japan and how it interacted with Shinto. Based on our expressed interests, he then gave us some excellent suggestions on where we could go on our own. He gave us our first lesson on the subway system and wrote down exactly which train and how many stops we should take in order to get there and back to our hotel. We found him amiable, accommodating, well-versed, and well-rounded. We highly recommend this excellent guide.
