We were met at the ship by our guide. Great! It was very hot in Colombo and our guide offered us the choice of very nice A/C car or tuk tuk. Since we were in a tuk tuk the day before we opted for the car. Very good decision. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. We toured all the major points of interest and stopped at to shop for tea and spices. After our tour we taken back to the ship.Literally a few steps from the ship’s entrance. Great tour. Very happy that we booked with Viatar!
Thank you,
Sadly we just didn't get the tour we paid for. It started well enough but after a visit to the back of the mosque and a temple, we instead started to visit 'freinds' of the driver. One pointed to a tree in a park, then asked for money and that continued throughout. We also went to a tea shop, a jewellery shop and a gift shop but missed out on much that was advertised and that we paid to see, including the temple on the lake- the main reason for us booking. To top it off, from one of the shops, near to the port, the driver drove back to the centre and demanded more money to take us back to the ship! We complained to the manager who did offer to take us in a car to the things we missed out on but neither my wife or I felt safe in doing so, who knows what they would have asked for? Avoid the company at all cost, but Colombo is a great city at least
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve our services and better manage customer expectations. When booking tours or transportation online, it’s important for travelers to carefully read the full product description to understand what is included and what may require additional costs. In this case, the driver was simply following the standard procedure, which may have led to a misunderstanding. Many tuk-tuk drivers, while excellent at their jobs, may have limited English proficiency, which can occasionally cause communication challenges. The admission fees for certain temples are not always included in the initial booking, and we always advise customers to clarify such details beforehand. We are continually working to improve how we communicate these points to ensure a smoother experience for all. We are grateful for your feedback and will use it to better inform future travelers about what to expect, helping them avoid any confusion. Our goal is to ensure that everyone enjoys their journey with us, and your input is invaluable in guiding our improvements. Finally, as requested, you are welcome to claim a full refund if you feel that your experience did not meet expectations. Thanks again for your review, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a better experience in the future.
Good tour but just be advised this tour is purely a tuk tuk around and doesn’t cover any entrance costs to anything you might visit. There seems to be a lot of visits to temples where there’s an entrance fee that you pay to driver. Best advice is be firm and visit sights and only visit temples you genuinely want to visit or trip could get costly. At the end they will try to take you to obligatory spice shop, jewellery shop etc, just refuse if you don’t want to go. Other than that great little tour.
Thanks and noted your experience.
Our guide gave us a great insight of the area & very accommodating. We were impressed of all the things we saw.
Thank you. hope to see you soon !
This was amazing! Our guides were awesome! Travelling around Colombo quickly and efficiently, seeing all the sites close up, with photo stops anytime you wanted! We visited Hindu temples and Buddhist temples with complete explanations by our guides. We stopped at two local shops for authentic souvenirs, and then went for lunch for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The tour was advertised to be 3-4 hours, but ours was 5+ hours!
thanks,
His English was good, He toured us around town safely, he had a lot of knowledge about the sites we visit
thanks,
Arriving by ship in the afternoon, we were kindly offered an air-conditioned car (at no additional charge) and driver rather than a tuk-tuk, which we gratefully accepted. A list of City highlights was supplied and visited, with a personal guide/driver. As we were the only guests, we added in another stop to the cricket grounds. There were the stops at the usual shopping locations, but we passed on the final street of shopping - too hot and we were happy with all of the tourist sites visited. We did have to pay $4 to get into the Temple, but it was a modest fee for the large buildings and contents. We would highly recommend this company and tour if you only have a morning or afternoon to spend in the City.
thanks,
