It was almost too easy we were incredibly lucky and our guide’s flair led us straight to a frozen lake, sheltered from the clouds, for a prodigious show. Good company, good mood, good ride!
Bien cordialement, Alshemal Norway
we were very lucky to see the very strong northern light tonight!

Nights like that are always special, and we’re glad you could experience such a beautiful moment under the Arctic sky. I came to Tromsø specifically to see the northern lights, dragging my boyfriend along with me. After cancelling two different tours because of the weather we booked on to this tour last minute and hoped for the best. Thanks to Jinyar's efforts we stopped twice capturing the northern lights. We ended up at the edge of the water, looking at Sommaroy island and the sky exploded!! It was an incredible experience topped off with hot chocolate, marshmallows and corn in the cob! I highly highly recommend! The small group size meant that we were able to walk a bit off the beaten track to really hunt for the lights and that hunt paid off.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re really happy to hear that the evening turned out to be such a special one for you, especially after the challenges with weather and cancelled tours. Northern Lights chasing often requires flexibility and patience, so it’s wonderful to know the effort paid off and that you were able to witness such an incredible display. Sommarøy and the coastal areas around Tromsø can offer beautiful open skies when conditions line up, and we’re glad you could enjoy the moment there with the aurora lighting up the sky. It’s also great to hear that the small group atmosphere, time by the fire, and warm drinks helped make the night even more memorable. Thank you again for joining us and for your kind recommendation. We hope the memories and photos from that Arctic night stay with you for many years. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway
Jinyar was amazing and provided the opportunity to see the most beautiful northern lights! Such a fun memorable experience
Thank you very much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear that the experience was such a memorable one for you. Seeing the Northern Lights is always a special moment, and we’re happy that the evening created such a beautiful memory. It’s also wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the guiding and the time spent under the Arctic sky. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope the memories from that night stay with you for a lifetime. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway
We saw an amazing display of lights. Went to a frozen lake for a bonfire, hot drinks, marshmallows, and corn. Since we saw the lights, the trip didn't last until the wee hours of the morning. Dress warm, fingers will get cold taking pics, and feet get cold around the bonfire.
Thank you for sharing your experience. A frozen lake under clear skies often creates a special setting for Aurora viewing — darker surroundings, open horizons, and space to settle in around the fire. We’re glad the Lights delivered and allowed the evening to finish at a comfortable time. You’re absolutely right about the cold. Even with a fire, Arctic temperatures require proper layers, especially when photographing. That’s why we always recommend warm boots, gloves, and thermal suits when needed. We appreciate you joining us and your practical advice for future travelers. Until the next Northern Lights night in Tromsø.
exceeded expectations, guide was very knowledgable, knew exactly where to go, had the most incredible experience seeing the northern lights, and also have stunning pictures that captured the moment that we'll have forever! also traveling as two women we felt very safe and secure the whole time.
Thank you for sharing such a meaningful experience. Knowing where to position the group comes from constant monitoring of cloud movement, darkness levels, and Aurora activity throughout the evening. We’re glad the conditions aligned and that you were able to witness the Lights while also leaving with photos that capture the moment. Feeling safe and comfortable is just as important as seeing the Aurora, especially when traveling in small groups at night in Arctic environments. We’re happy you felt secure and well looked after the entire time. We appreciate your trust in joining us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Until the next Northern Lights sky.
A superb trip. Our guide was the gentlest person and although worked alone was able to kit us out with snow suits and around a fire waiting for the aurora give us hot chocolate and corn on the cob to cook over the fire. It was snowing in Tromso but he managed to find a spot that was totally clear about one hour away. Be aware that many factors leading to viewing the aurora are beyond the gift of guides, but although other groups joined us on the frozen lake, our guide advised us to stay put as clear skies were approaching from the north. He was right. We waited 2 hours around the fire and were treated to a 2-3 hour aurora. A real treat. Many thanks!
Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your night. Snow in Tromsø often means repositioning quickly toward clearer corridors, and sometimes the best decision is simply to stay patient and let the sky open rather than continue moving. We’re glad that call paid off and rewarded you with a long Aurora window. You’re absolutely right — many factors are beyond anyone’s control, but careful observation, timing, and route choices help place the group where conditions are most promising. Small groups make it possible to manage suits, fire, comfort, and safety while waiting in real Arctic conditions. We appreciate your trust and your patience during the wait — those nights often become the most memorable. Until the next Aurora.
Amazing experience our guide was the best he stopped many times to check the weather conditions, took a lot of pictures and videos of us and brought us snacks and hot chocolate. Would recommend 100%! Thanks for the beautiful evening
Thank you for your recommendation. Frequent stops and reassessing weather conditions are part of how Aurora nights are managed — visibility can change quickly, and staying flexible allows us to position the group where the chances improve. We’re glad the effort translated into strong sightings, photos, and a relaxed atmosphere. Warm drinks, simple snacks, and small-group pacing help everyone stay comfortable while waiting for activity to build, especially in Arctic temperatures. We appreciate you joining us for the experience and hope to welcome you again under another Northern Lights sky.
