Itinerary
The spectacular HARRISON'S CAVE in Barbados is geographically located in the centre of the island, a natural phenomenon unique to the tropical world. Specially designed transport takes you down through the underground tunnels to a sight so beautiful, that few can compare. In the specially lighted caverns at Harrison's Cave, view the majestic stalactites and stalagmites which have been growing from the floors and ceilings for many centuries. Cascading through the caves, the crystal blue waters form magnificent pools and waterfalls, filling the senses with sights and sounds of such pure wonder.
Bathsheba is located on the Eastern coastline of Barbados. It is said that this area was named after the wife of King David whose name was “Bathsheba”. Legend has it that she bathed in milk to keep her skin beautiful and soft, and the rolling surf waters of Bathsheba’s “Soup Bowl” resembled Bathsheba’s bath. The area is popular with surfers. It is a popular area for locals and visitors alike and is dotted with several seaside cottages.
Lunch Stop
The Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill was built in 1727 it is one of the many Barbadian windmills once used to produce sugar, and one of the two last functioning sugar windmills in the world. The Morgan Lewis Mill ceased grinding sugarcane for commercial purposes in 1947 and was subsequently given to the Barbados National Trust.
St Nicholas Abbey is located in Saint Peter, Barbados, and is a plantation house, museum and rum distillery Colonel Benjamin Berringer built the house in 1658. This house is one of only three genuine Jacobean mansions in the Western Hemisphere. It's similar to the English Jacobean-era manor houses of the first half of the seventeenth century, the period between the Tudor and Georgian styles, beginning in the reign of James I.

Cherry Tree Hill is eight hundred and fifty (850) ft above sea level and is a part of St. Nicholas Abbey plantation. Actually due to the size of the St. Nicholas Abbey property, Cherry Tree Hill actually borders, St.Peter and St. Andrew. Many years ago, the drive on either side to get to it was flanked by cherry trees, thus the reason for its name; however these were replaced with mahogany trees which now line the road. The trees were planted in celebration of the signing of The Treaty of Paris in 1763

A super day out under the expert guidance of Glyne. Not only did we learn about the heritage of Barbados but also its physical geographical features. Our first stop was Harrison’s cave which was a wonderful tour underground. The cave guide explained the history and discovery of the caves plus the science behind the calcium carbonate formations. I would have liked more time to explore a little more. Just half an hour or so extra would have helped this visit seem less rushed. Following Harrison’s cave another long drive on windy roads, at no time did we feel unsafe despite the grumbling road conditions!! Sadly the weather got the better of us and we didn’t manage to enjoy Bathsheba due to torrential rain but that made the views from the bus even more dramatic! Our stop at St Nicholas Abbey was great, starting with the steam train up to Cherry Tree Hill and views over the East coast. Learning about sugar plantations, colonisation and slavery was delivered sensitively by our guide and to see traditional methods of sugar cane processing was fascinating. A tiny sip of rum and molasses finished off our tour. Lunch was also rushed, just one course despite there being an ice cream fridge and deserts on the menu. I would have liked a little bit of something sweet or even a coffee but there was no time. Overall we enjoyed our tour. Glyne was superb and we only gave 4/5 because of the rush at the caves and lunch
This was a good tour showing some of the best highlights of the island in one day. Our driver did a great job trying to keep the group together.
Qwamee was a wonderful guide- personable and interesting. Nice group of fellow travelers as well. The sites were great- Harrison's Cave in the tram, and St. Nicholas Abbey and rum tasting (Virginia was a terrific guide at the plantation). We drove by Morgan Lewis Mill, which is undergoing repairs, so not currently working, and got out of the van at Bathsheba, which had a lovely view of the coast. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. We had a terrific day and would recommend this tour without hesitation.

Great tour and a great tour guide: Glyne was an excellent tour guide - knowledgeable and entertaining. He made our tour informative, fun and enjoyable. Thank you!
Hi Everyone. We had such a lovely time yesterday discovering Barbados with Mr. Dunstan who provided excellent services and made our trip worthwhile. We recommend this trip to everybody who wants to see some hidden treasures of this beautiful island. Dunstan knows a lot about the island and is ready to share his knowledge and experience about the history and geography of the island.
A really good tour with a lot of history, load of info to soak up. caves where impressive, rum distillary tour, and food at dinas bar, really good food, the beach was a bit rocky and alot of seaweed had washed up, but the scenery was breathtaking.
The Harrison's Cave and St. Nicholas Abbey Tour was outstanding, Lisa, our driver/Guide, did an excellent job of keeping on schedule and explaining Barbados history during the tour. At Harrisons Cave, Gabriel explained the history and science of the cave while on the tram tour. At St Nicholas, Virginia explained the history of the large house and the Rum Distillery. The views from Cherry Tree Hill and Bathsheba Beach were gorgeous. An wonderful day.
It was a wonderful tour. Our tour guide and driver Glyde was awesome! He was very nice, friendly and full of great information on Barbados. We visited Harrison's Cave, St Nicholas Abbey and beautiful Bathsheba. We thoroughly enjoyed our day visiting the Treasures of Barbados. Thank you again Glyde for the great day and tour. Much appreciated!
Glyne made our day trip excursion one to remember filled with so much fun and interesting information about the culture and island while ensuring we saw everything that we possibly could during our day trip, this experience was a 10/10! Highly recommend! We visited the Harrison Caves, St. Nicholas Abby and the Wildlife Sanctuary plus had a delicious lunch with the locals. Superb day!
Everything about the tour was perfect as described and more from start. My guide was Kalvin who picked me up in time and had an incredible amount of knowledge about so much on the island - historical, political, social and geographical. I learned so much from him! We went to Harrison’s Cave and had an exceptional couple of guides - Hyacinth and Andre, lunch was delicious and came at just the right time and our final guide Kristen at St Nicholas Abbey was also great. I loved the variety of the tour and being able to see so much of the island.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Calvin. He is a really nice guy. Whenever I read reviews that mention guides by name I often think about when and how I first met them. Calvin I actually met at attraction when he was on a tour and I was so very impressed with the level of care that he showed the customers that he had in his care. It was not long after that that he joined our team and that is over 15 years ago and they have been good years. 😃 I am so happy you enjoyed your day with him 😃 Happy travels to you and yours 🌴😊 From our team at Beautiful Barbados Tours 🏝️☀️🚐🌸🐵📷👋 & Tranquility Cruises 🛥️🤿🐢🐟🐠🐡🪸
