The cooking class was a real highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka! First, we were driven by tuk tuk to a local market where we were allowed to choose the fresh ingredients together – a great experience to get to know the local culture. Afterwards we cooked different curries together and got step by step explanations. Everything was explained very understandably and we learned a lot about Sri Lankan cuisine and spices. It was especially nice that we also got the recipes in the end, so we can recook the dishes at home. Super authentic, delicious and highly recommended!
A fantastic afternoon well spent with Yamuna. We cooked a feast and laughed all afternoon. Took enough food home for our next meal. 8 dishes all different and all delicious. Excellent value!!
The home cook showed me how the curries are chopped, sliced, seasoned, fried, cooked and tasted. Wonderful! You are also allowed to participate step by step. The kitchen is perfectly furnished for this course on a covered roof terrace. The hostess has everything ready from the cooking apron to all mostly homemade spices and herbs including recipes. She also speaks very good English. The shopping trip by TukTuk to the vegetable and fish market is a wonderful, colorful introduction to this cooking experience. Wow, such a lovely experience. Thank you
We really enjoyed the whole experience. Tuk tuk ride to vegetable market to select the vegetables for our 3 curried. Mushroom, bean, and pumpkin. Next, stop the fish markets (you have the option of a fish or chicken curry) to buy out tuna. Then, back to the restaurant to prepare our dishes. Which apart from the curries included Dahl, coconut sambal, rice, and papadums. Once cooked, then lunch = so much food..
My two friends and I loved this class. It was super fun going to the market and choosing which veggies we should cook. Then we went back to a lovely second floor kitchen and while it was raining learned how to make 7 different dishes and got the recipes for them. The woman teaching us was so nice and helpful. And it made for a most delicious lunch! It was a great way to spend a morning. Highly recommend this class.
One of the best experiences ever. Shes so nice! We actually came late and she was so nice to give us the class even though we didnt schedule on time! We had such a great time cooking our delicious sri lankan food and I got so many great tips from her. Loved every second of it and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you so so much again.
Interesting ingredients well structured and the market gives you so good choices about what you want to make. It would be fun for a group holiday.
This is a fun way to spend a rainy day. We went to the vegetable and spice shops and then came back to the restaurant and cooked our curries of choice. The teenagers had a great time and we had the added bonus of eating our meal for dinner!
We had an amazing experience! Our chef was amazing and the food was delicious! We went as a group of 6 and had so much fun! One of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka.
We loved our experience here and would highly recommend this class! We cooked a mix of chicken and veggie curries as a group and really enjoyed it. Great to be able to come home with a recipe book too.
