It is known for its well-preserved Roman aqueduct, which is one of the most significant and best preserved ancient monuments in the country. The aqueduct, which dates back to the 1st century AD, is a testament to Roman engineering ingenuity and runs through the city, serving as a symbol of Segovia. In addition to the aqueduct, Segovia has other architectural wonders, including the Alcázar of Segovia, a medieval fortress that resembles a fairytale castle and has served various purposes throughout history, from royal palace to military fortress. The Segovia Cathedral, built in the Gothic style, is another notable landmark, with impressive architecture and intricate works of art. The historic city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its rich cultural heritage and architectural significance.
