Do you love Japanese food and want to learn how to cook it yourself? This hands-on experience is perfect for anyone interested in authentic, healthy Japanese home-style cuisine. The journey begins with a visit to a local supermarket, where you’ll learn how to choose fresh meats, fish, vegetables, and seasonings used in everyday Japanese cooking. Then, move to a professional kitchen studio for a guided class. You’ll practice knife skills, make dashi and sushi rice, and cook classic dishes such as miso soup, eggplant dengaku, dashimaki tamago, and sushi. After cooking, enjoy your meal and take home recipes to recreate it anytime. The studio is located near Asakusa and Kappabashi, ideal for sightseeing afterward.

- Out of respect for our other guests and to ensure the best tour for everyone, we must start the tour on time.
- You will not be able to join the tour, receive a refund, or reschedule if you are late and miss the group.
- Free date/time changes are available up to 24 hours before the tour's start time.
- Cancellation after the tour's start time or no-show will not be eligible for a refund or date/time change
- We will start the tour on time. If you are more than 5 minutes late without contacting us, it will be considered a cancellation, and no refund will be provided.
- If you cannot eat eggs, your food selection will be reduced from four types to three.
- Please note that we are unable to guarantee allergy-free or cater to dietary restrictions as the food is prepared in kitchens that do not belong to MagicalTrip. Additionally, there may be instances where substitutions are not possible at certain stops; however, we will make every effort to compensate at different stops throughout the tour.
- Japan's climate has become more extreme, with summer highs reaching 40°C (110°F) and winter lows dropping to -5°C (20°F). Please prepare accordingly for the tour.

Alice picked us up and took us to the market. She taught us how to pick fish for sushi then brought us to the kitchen. We ranged in age from 13-67, chefs and non-cooks alike. We all had a great time and made some very tasty food! We were given the recipes to encourage us to try these new things at home. Great experience!!!

Alice greeted us warmly at the pick up location, which was easy to find. She was immediately a friend! Alice set us up for success and provided great instruction. The experience was relaxed and informative with delicious food as an outcome. The miso soup was excellent! I picked up some tips that will help sushi preparation at home be more flavorful and successful! Would love to have spent a little more time in the supermarket at the beginning of the experience.

We had a great experience with Magical Trip! Mai led our 4-hour cooking class, and she was amazing. Easy pickup, detailed cooking instructions, and friendly conversation created an overall inviting environment. We were lucky and our class size was 2 people, so it made for a more engaging class. Mai was also very informative about Japan’s history and recommended places for us to visit in the city. I also enjoyed that the food we picked in the market is the food we prepared. Would highly recommend this experience! And if you can, ask for Mai as your instructor 😊

We had the luxury of being in a group by ourselves and it was such a great experience. It felt like a private tour. Our guide, Mai, was very insightful and kind! She explained everything in great detail and was patient with all of our questions. We learned a lot of new techniques and the food was amazing! We did not feel rushed and were able to make all of the food during the allotted time frame. Everyone should do this experience.
