Toshogu Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate, and is also one of Japan's most significant historical and cultural sites. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Shrines and Temples of Nikko." Toshogu Shrine was established in 1617 by Tokugawa Hidetada, the second shogun and son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and was expanded in 1636 by the third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, to its present grandeur. The shrine is built in the "gongen-zukuri" architectural style, which blends elements of Shinto and Buddhism, symbolizing Tokugawa Ieyasu's divine status as the "Toshogu Daigongen." The three must-see carvings at Nikko Toshogu Shrine are: The Three Wise Monkeys: Located on the stable, the carvings of the three monkeys; The Sleeping Cat and The Elephant of Imagination
Iroha Mountain Road is one of the "Top 100 Roads in Japan". It is 15.8 kilometers from Nikko City to Lake Chuzenji and Oku-Nikko. There are a total of 48 turns on the up/down route. It is a mountain road located in the Nikko region. Famous for its picturesque driving routes. In autumn, mountain trails are the most beautiful and popular. Due to the varying heights of the mountains, you can enjoy the entire red leaves of various colors, which makes you feel relaxed and breathtaking. You can also view Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji from the Akechipingira Ropeway.
Lake Chuzenji is the highest natural lake in Japan. In Lake Chuzenji, there are azaleas in spring, green trees in summer, red leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter. There is a beautiful scenery for tourists to enjoy in all four seasons. It is particularly famous for its azaleas in spring and red leaves in autumn. During this time, a steady stream of people come to visit with their cameras in order to capture their favorite pictures.
Kegon Falls is one of the three famous waterfalls in Japan and a popular tourist destination. The water from Chuzenji Lake forms the Ojiri River at its eastern end, crosses Mount Nantai, and flows down from a height of 700 meters to form the main part of the waterfall, which is 99 meters high. The upper rock protrudes forward and 12 small waterfalls flow out of rock gaps. In autumn, the surrounding red leaves are blanketed with beautiful scenery. It is the tourist center of Nikko National Park. It is perfect for taking pictures and has an artistic conception of mountains and flowing water.

It was a great experience. Kai was my tour guide. He did an exceptional job and knew some history of the visited places. Every place listed was seen. Every place listed was beautiful

It’s wonderful to know that you were able to see every beautiful place listed on the itinerary. We truly appreciate you taking the time to recommend us and would be delighted to welcome you back for another memorable journey. The place is truly special - historic, beautiful, and interesting. Visiting it was among the highlights of our trip to Tokyo. Without it, learning the history of the place would be much poorer. There are two items that I would suggest for improvement: 1. Tourist guide - his English and the volume of knowledge need to be enhanced as well as the presentation skills. 2. The mini-bus used by the tour provider is to be upgraded to a full-size tourist class comfortable bus - the trip of 2.5 hours duration each way was rather tiring in a small vehicle. Finally, the entrance fee to the Shrine is to be included in the overall cost so as to avoid any unnecessary questions and confusion.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed and thoughtful feedback regarding your recent tour experience. We are delighted to hear that you found the historic site truly special and that it became one of the highlights of your trip to Tokyo. We sincerely appreciate your constructive suggestions regarding our guide’s English proficiency and presentation skills, as well as the comfort of our transportation. Your input is invaluable as we continuously strive to improve the quality of our tours. We are also taking note of your point about including the shrine entrance fee in the overall cost to enhance transparency and convenience for our guests. Thank you again for your kind words and valuable recommendations. We look forward to welcoming you — and future guests — back for an even more refined and enjoyable experience in the future! Best regards
The sights visited were interesting but bad organised. First It was difficult to find our guide amongst an anarchic crowd of tourists. No distinctive sign to know who was our guide. Then we began the visit by the temple in the morning when it was full of tourists and in the afternoon we went to the observatory, the lake and the waterfall when the sun has turned in front of us. Very bad for the photos. Waterfalls were in the dark and these last sights were exposed with the sun in front of us. I recommend this tour but with another better organised agency.

The sights you will see are amaizing. The tour guides are very young and very inexperienced. A lot of helpful information in respect to which ticket is needed, can you make the shrine and museum visit in two hours or where is best place to have lunch for example were missing.
Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback about your recent tour. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, with a more informed and smoothly organized experience that matches the beauty of the sights you explore. Best regards
