While most tours only allow you to watch practice in silence, our tour offers a rare opportunity to interact directly with the athletes. After witnessing the power of their morning training, you can ask the wrestlers your own questions in an exclusive Q&A session. Itinerary
Orientation- We begin at Narihira Park (near the multipurpose restroom), where your expert guide will welcome you for an insider briefing. Before heading to the stable, you'll learn the hidden history, rituals, and essential etiquette of sumo to ensure you experience the practice like a true insider.
Morning Practice Viewing- [High light] Witness the Raw Power: Up-Close and Personal Feel the earth shake and hear the impact as Japan’s titans clash just meters away. This is no tourist show—it’s a heart-pounding, authentic glimpse into the unwavering discipline and raw energy of professional 'Asageiko' (morning training). 【Important note: Tournament Period】 During the Grand Sumo Tournament (approx. 2 weeks in Jan, May, Sept), practice starts 30 mins earlier and viewing time is about 1 hour.
Interaction with Wrestlers- [Highlight]Exclusive Q&A and Photo Session with Wrestlers Talk directly to the wrestlers to hear their stories and take personal photos together with the athletes. ※Interactive Bonus: When the wrestlers' schedule allows, we may offer a special chance for male guests to step into the ring and experience a friendly 'challenge' (Not available during tournament seasons).
Closing Session- Souvenirs and Extra Q&A We will return to the park for a closing session. Your guide will present you with an official "Banzuke" (ranking sheet) in a specially designed souvenir folder. [Extra Time for Curious Minds] If you have more burning questions about the world of sumo, its traditions, or the wrestlers' lifestyles, your guide will stay to provide deeper insights. The Sumo Wrestling Morning Practice was very insightful into what these athletes endure to become professionals. This activity opened my eyes to just how rigorous their training truly is and the dedication it takes on their part. Momo (our guide) was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. The Q & A session at the end also allowed interaction with the wrestlers so they could share their experiences. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, old or young.
Absolutely fantastic Sumo experience…!!! Highly recommend if you want a real life no games Sumo experience, please come and enjoy this Sumo wrestling matches. You see the heart, soul, blood, sweat and dedication that each of these professionals put in, day in, and day out. Their passion and love for this sport is like no other. We attend the morning practice session with our guide Ryoko. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole morning, it was interesting and informative and have recommended this experience to many others since attending mid May. Ryoko was a terrific guide and went above and beyond helping us to the metro after and assisting us to get to the fish markets, even breaking her own journey to make sure we were on the right track. No hesitation, in our option this experience was better that the more touristy options.

This was a truly memorable and absolutely amazing experience. Our guides Tai and Momo we’re fantastic and very knowledgeable and passionate about Sumo. If you are going to be in Tokyo, this is something to add to your itinerary that would make things that much more memorable.

This is a magnificent experience witnessing the wrestlers in a genuine training session. You witness drills leading up to actual practice “fights” and then get to talk to each of the wrestlers. Fantastic 😀 We had a great guide, Ryoko, who made the whole morning extremely interesting and enjoyable. Ryoko also helped get us to our next experience via the metro, thanks again

Absolutely incredible experience. This was NOT one of those touristy “sumo shows” put on for visitors. This was a real sumo practice with actual professional wrestlers training right in front of you, and you are sitting only a few feet away from the action. You can feel the intensity, discipline, and tradition the entire time. It felt authentic from beginning to end. Afterward, we were able to take photos with the wrestlers, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Our guide, Sarah, was amazing — knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and clearly passionate about what she does. She also runs a food walk tour that I wasn’t able to attend, but after this experience, I’m sure it’s fantastic as well. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants something authentic and unforgettable. Easy five stars.
