Itinerary
Ameyoko (アメ横) is a busy market street along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno Stations. The name "Ameyoko" is a short form for "Ameya Yokocho" (candy store alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, "Ame" also stands for "America", because a lot of American products used to be available there when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War Two.
Kappabashi Street (かっぱ橋道具街, Kappabashi Dōgugai) is a shopping street between Ueno and Asakusa, which is lined with several dozens of stores selling everything needed by restaurant operators, with the exception of fresh food.
One of best shopping streets in Tokyo, with the well-remained old town “Shitamachi” atmosphere. Explore the nostalgic side of Tokyo through Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street!
This tour will allow you to explore Tokyo more efficiently in one day. Meet at your hotel, then move to anywhere you want.
Cat Street is the nickname for a mostly pedestrianized alley in Tokyo that runs between Harajuku and Shibuya. Cat Street is a haven of hip culture dedicated to youth fashion. The formal name for the street is Kyu-Shibuya-gawa Yuhodoro (or "Old Shibuya River Pedestrian Lane"), often shortened to "Yuhodo." From Harajuku, its highest elevation, it goes down to and across Omotesando Boulevard (landmarks: Ralph Lauren store and Gyre shopping center), and continues as a pedestrianized street down to Miyashita-koen intersection in Shibuya.
Japan's wackiest youth cultures come alive at Harajuku's Takeshita-dori Street Calbee chips, candy floss and crepes await you at Harajuku's Takeshita-dori Street, a pedestrian shopping jungle that is quite the sensory overload with food and fashion options popular among Tokyo's trend-setting youth.
Shibamata (柴又) is a neighborhood on the eastern end of Tokyo, not far from the Edogawa River which is the natural border between Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture. The town retains its old-school charm from yesteryear and is a perfect break away from modern Tokyo. One of the main attractions to see is the Shibamata Taishakuten Temple not far from the station.
Akihabara (秋葉原), also called Akiba after a former local shrine, is a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops. In more recent years, Akihabara has gained recognition as the center of Japan's otaku (diehard fan) culture, and many shops and establishments devoted to anime and manga are now dispersed among the electronic stores in the district. On Sundays, Chuo Dori, the main street through the district, is closed to car traffic from 13:00 to 18:00 (until 17:00 from October through March).

A nice start to our trip in Japan. Informative and practical, certainly not too much. We really like it. Visited a slightly lesser-known district and then the tourist center.

Izumi was excellent. He took us to 4 shopping areas and we found many things we liked. He also is very knowledgeable about Tokyo history. He guided us through using the subway and finding our way.

Suki was very flexible and provided good background. Helped us to get around in subway and cabs. We were able to see things that we won't be seeing later on another tour which was key.

We took a train to the Shibuya area of Tokyo which we wanted to see. The train ride there was easy and fun. It being the weekend, there were a lot of shoppers in Tokyo. Rather noisy in the Pachinko business there.

We really enjoyed our tour and more specifically enjoyed the fact that at the beginning our guide Mr Izumi set us down and explained several options we had and allowed us to tailor our tour to what our family wanted to see. This made the day much more enjoyable and it fit into the sites we were particularly interested in seeing.

We did the Tokyo Shopping Street Hopping private tour with Sam today. Communication was excellent. I told her what we were looking for in the shopping tour and she made sure we got what we needed. Her English was very good and conversation was very pleasant. We would not have been able to navigate the Tokyo train system effectively without her guidance. She met us at our hotel and made sure we got back. Highly recommended!
Thank you for your kind review! I'm glad that you could enjoy good shopping in many places. Please come to Tokyo again!
Noripy was so sweet and she took us to all the destinations we requested. She found a great lunch spot that offered many options, even for our teenager who is a very picky eater. We were grateful for her help in navigating the subway system there and translating for us when needed in the shops. She was so helpful and kind.
I sincerely appreciate your wonderful review—thank you so much! It brings me great joy to know that you enjoyed the shopping tour in Tokyo. I hope you’ll visit Japan again in the future. Warm regards,
