- All participants are required to possess a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Convention by an officially authorized organization in their home country in order to drive in Japan.
- Driving licenses issued by countries not covered under the 1949 Geneva Convention (such as China, Indonesia, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc.) are not valid for driving in Japan.
- Participants with a driver's license issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, or Monaco must obtain an official Japanese translation of their license from the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) instead of an IDP.
- All participants must carry a physical International Driving Permit (or for the exceptional countries listed above, a physical domestic license along with the official Japanese translation) and a physical passport at all times.
- US Military personnel may use their SOFA permit or US state license + Active Duty Military ID.
- US/Canada/Australia: IDP must be in booklet form (A–E classification). Present IDP, original license, and passport.
- India: IDP must be issued by Automobile Association of Western, Upper, Eastern, or Southern India (booklet form, A–E). Present IDP, original license, and passport.
- Special Route on October 31 – HalloweenDue to Halloween traffic restrictions in Shibuya, tours starting after 3:00 PM will not pass Shibuya Scramble Crossing on the regular 60-minute course (Harajuku – Shinjuku – Shibuya).These tours will instead run as a special Tokyo Tower course (60 minutes), usually part of our 90-minute route.
- Please join at the time you selected. Arrive 30 minutes before your departure.Late arrivals or no-shows will not be refunded.
- Invalid or expired permits/licenses will prevent participation, and no refund will be given.
- Any delay or forgotten documents (International Driving Permit, Japanese translation, passport, etc.) that prevent participation will incur a rescheduling fee of 2,000 JPY per person.
- Booking confirmation will be sent within 48 hours. Contact support if not received.
- Full refund if cancelled at least 24 hours before the activity.

Booked for 23 May 2026, 8:00pm — turned out to be a complete mess. Arrived to total chaos — people swarming everywhere, no queue, no system Felt like they massively overbooked and couldn’t handle the crowd No karts in sight at our booked time Waited 30+ mins with ZERO updates — staff couldn’t even say how long or how many ahead In the end, no service delivered. The reason for the delay may be due to traffic, weather, and accidents on the road. This is clearly stated on the booking website. We are not able to predict what happens on the road and we are very sorry your tour was delayed; however, posting videos of our staff without his consent and publishing it online with false accusations of our company not responding or providing a refund is unacceptable. We had explained we would provide a refund and we did. We encourage you to correct any inaccurate claims and communicate truthfully going forward. Thank you for your cooperation.
I was shocked at how much fun we had doing this. I really thought it would be a special (less traveled) roads through parts of the city. It was not. We drove on some quite busy street and the go karts were quite fast. We did go through one tunnel and that was crazy. I would do this tout again for sure.

James was an outstanding tour guide. I was already excited about the go-kart experience, he made it so much better. James has an amazing personality, friendly, funny, and welcoming. Now to the ride. Because the roads were not crowded, we were about to drive 50 mph giving us a little thrill. We saw a lot of key points and ended the experience driving up a small winding road. 10/10

There is not enough great things that I can say about this experience! We were called and notified that we would need to change our time to later in the evening well in advance. We loved this option because it gave us more time to shop. Lol 🤭 Upon arrival, the team was so hospitable, efficient and kind. From the check-in process to the farewell, they made sure we were safe, our experience was captured well through photos and videos and that we had fun. We were the last group of the night, and if the team was tired...you would never know it because their professionalism was extremely high and they treated us with the same amount of enthusiasm as I assume they would've the 9am participants. Thank you, to the team. You gave us 4 Washington, DC girls a memorable experience we will never forget. May your business continue to thrive!

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Monster Kart in Japan. I booked for 20 people in my family and gave monster Kart the money months in advance. This past Sunday, my son and I were left stranded during our tour. My son almost being struck by a bus. We became stuck in traffic and were effectively abandoned without any meaningful assistance or clear instructions on what to do next. In the end, we had no choice but to pay out of pocket for an Uber just to get back safely. Being left in that situation—especially in a foreign country with my child—is not just inconvenient, it’s irresponsible and a serious safety concern. What makes this even worse is that after contacting the company, they refused to issue any refund or take accountability for what happened. After returning and telling my family what happened to me 3 other family members got scarred they were older and decided not go. This company failed at the most basic level of customer care and safety. I strongly urge others to think twice before booking, particularly if you’re traveling with family. There are far better and safer ways to spend your time in Japan. This was a event for my 50th Birthday and I have been nothing but pleasant to them even telling them I don’t want to give a bad review but they way they managing this situation not refunding me and my son is unacceptable.

Our guides are trained to monitor all participants throughout the tour and to check on customers if they become separated at a traffic light or if a kart experiences any mechanical issue. Because we operate on public roads and must follow Japanese traffic laws, it is not always possible for our staff to stop immediately or in the middle of traffic. However, our team will always make every effort to reach and assist customers as quickly as possible while maintaining safety for everyone on the road. In this particular situation, our staff responded and proceeded to the location where assistance was required. However, by the time they arrived, the karts had already been left unattended and the participants were no longer with the vehicles, which made it difficult for our team to provide immediate assistance and resolve the situation on-site. We understand how stressful and frustrating this experience must have felt, particularly while traveling with your child in a foreign country. While we regret that the situation occurred, we respectfully disagree with the characterization that customers were abandoned. Our team followed established procedures and attempted to respond as quickly as road and traffic conditions allowed. We appreciate your feedback and will continue reviewing our procedures to improve communication and support for participants who become separated from the group. Unsafe and unapologetic- I had the worst experience of my entire Japan trip- an otherwise amazing experience filled with laughter and kindness. First, I want to say that the female tour guide was lovely—friendly and professional. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the experience. The go-kart I was assigned (vehicle 2007) was clearly unsafe. It was extremely unstable and constantly swerved from left to right, making it very difficult to control. This is especially dangerous given that you are driving on public roads alongside cars and pedestrians. I spent the entire tour feeling anxious rather than enjoying the experience. What’s even more troubling is that when I raised the issue, one of the male guides casually said, “yes, that’s the shaky one,” which clearly indicates the company was already aware that this kart had a mechanical problem. Despite this, they still allowed customers to use it. After the tour, I raised my concerns and requested some form of compensation, as the experience was not enjoyable due and unsafe. The company refused. In fact the owner refused to provide his name, did not apologize, and dismissed the situation by saying that from his perspective the tour was completed, it was therefore “successful.” When I pointed out that it was only “successful” because I managed to avoid an accident, he simply agreed—showing a complete lack of responsibility and customer care. Even more concerning, as I was leaving, I noticed that the same faulty vehicle was not removed from use for the next group. I had to personally warn another customer not to get into it. This experience showed a serious disregard for customer safety and very poor customer service. I cannot recommend this company to anyone.

Make sure you get your IDP (international Driver/ing Permit) before you leave your country of origin. If you’re already in Japan and don’t have an IDP, DO NOT BOOK. Heaps of websites will tell you how to get an IDP in Japan. You can’t. Otherwise, monster carts was very hospitable and gave me two t-shirts for my troubles.

This experience was a lot of fun. Hara and his team make sure we understand how to ride the go kart guided us through the streets of Tokyo. The ride was a lot of fun. We felt very safe riding the cars as Hara and his partner were driving with us. They took their time and made sure this was a fabulous experience.
