Traditional Japanese village located in Fujikawaguchiko Town, known as the most beautiful village in Japan, a picturesque spot with Mt. Fuji in the background. Destroyed by a landslide during a typhoon in 1966, it was reconstructed and reopened as an open-air museum and traditional craft village in 2006. Stroll through this ancient village, and marvel at the unique "armor structure" houses created by the villagers to resist the severe winter snow. Take a closer look at the thatched roofs and experience its livable characteristics of being warm in winter and cool in summer. Standing at the viewing point, overlooking Mount Fuji in the distance, the mountain peak and the roof complement each other, forming a beautiful picture.
Lake Kawaguchi is known as the shining pearl of the five lakes of Fuji, its intricate shoreline offers numerous vantage points to admire Mt. Fuji. Ten thousand years ago, a spectacular eruption of Mount Fuji created this stunning picture of lake and mountain. Stroll along its shores with Mt. Fuji in the background, a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere, and enjoy the beautiful reflection of Mt. Fuji in the clear water.
Oishi Park, nature's palette, is famous for its seasonal beautiful and vibrant flower displays. Whether it is cherry blossoms, lavender, red leaves, kochia, or snow and reeds, the seasons change the beauty is breathtaking. You can capture beauty photos with Lake Kawaguchi, seasonal flowers, and Mt. Fuji in the background.
On the second floor of the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, you will find a unique perspective where you can easily capture the magnificent picture of the red torii blending with Mount Fuji.
Famous park in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. It's known as one of the 21 places photographers from all over the world must visit in their lives. The Chureito Pagoda is a five-storied pagoda on the mountainside overlooking Fujiyoshida City and Mount Fuji. To reach the pagoda, visitors must climb the staircase of nearly 400 steps, the view from the top is considered one of the best in Japan.
Built in 705 and has a history of more than 1,300 years. It is a holy place to pray for well-being and family happiness. In 807, Mount Fuji erupted on a large scale, and society fell into panic. The shrine held a grand Mount Fuji Fire Control Ceremony, praying for peace and prosperity for the country and the return of Mount Fuji to tranquility.
Oshino Hakkai is a World Heritage Site with eight clear springs formed by the snow melt of Mt. Fuji, known as one of the "100 Famous Waters of Japan". A very enjoyable day! Each of the attractions has something different. The views from the top of Mt. Fuji on the last stop are well worth the hike to the top. The guide Belle was very good and full of energy!

Had Omar as our guide today. Very friendly and organised and kept us all to time. We lucked out with the weather…beautiful blue skies and magnificent views of Fuji. However this and the Sakura brought lots of others too so as with many places at this time of year expect the crowds and queues and find little places to escape and take a breath.

An important note - this vendor gives you a chance to reschedule/cancel with a couple days' notice if the weather is poor. You've got about a 50% chance of seeing Mt. Fuji on any given day, so take advantage of this. We knew it was going to rain, and chose to go anyway because I wanted to see the area. I've got mixed feelings on this decision. The traditional village with the craftspeople is neat. The lake and the springs are less interesting; there's almost nothing to do besides wander the enormous gift shops and buy snacks. (They mostly have the same gifts and snacks.) The pagoda/shrine is very pretty and has a nice view, but minus Mt. Fuji, is no more interesting than any of the shrines and pagodas you're likely to have seen in Tokyo and Kyoto. There's a stop for lunch that you pay for on your own; if you choose to get the lunch, it's extremely well-organized and quite tasty (and includes a vegetarian option). If you don't...I dunno what you do with that hour. I'd recommend getting the lunch. The guide was mostly focused on logistics; I'd kind of hoped for some more history/culture/background info, but it wasn't really that kind of tour. We had a nice time and it was nice to see some of Japan outside the cities. They did their best to make it interesting regardless of the weather, and it's entirely on us for deciding to go despite the predicted rain. I'm not sure it's worth the full day without actually seeing Mt. Fuji, though, so keep an eye on those weather predictions.
