Elaine- Tour Guide, photographer & friend!

My wife and I had an amazing private tour experience in Tokyo with Howzit, and our guide Elaine made the entire day unforgettable. We started in Asakusa at the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center observation deck, which gave us a fantastic view over Senso-ji Temple and the surrounding area. From there, Elaine guided us through Senso-ji and Nakamise Street while sharing interesting history and local insights that made the area feel much more meaningful than just sightseeing. One of the highlights was visiting a smaller, quieter temple where we were able to enjoy free tea away from the crowds. It felt like one of those hidden local experiences we never would have found on our own. Throughout the day we tried several delicious local snacks including fresh melon bread and an incredible crème brûlée sweet potato treat. Elaine also took us through traditional shops and helped make the experience feel very personal instead of rushed or overly touristy. Kappabashi Kitchenware Street was another huge highlight. I ended up purchasing a beautiful knife that was engraved for me, which became one of my favorite souvenirs from Japan. We also enjoyed a great sushi lunch, a sake tasting experience, a relaxing walk through Ueno Park, and even stumbled across a vintage street market filled with unique vendors. Before the tour ended, we stopped at one of the temples in the park and watched a talented street magician perform, which was such a fun and unexpected way to finish the day. Elaine was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly easy to spend the day with. The tour felt well planned while still allowing room for spontaneous discoveries along the way. We would absolutely recommend Howzit to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants a more authentic and memorable experience.

Great time with the locals

We had an amazing 2-day tour with Howzit, completely personalized to the sights we wanted to see off the beaten path. I truly enjoyed every moment and wished we had scheduled even more days. Yu, Ikumi, and Aiko were absolutely phenomenal — they crafted a customized itinerary for us and seamlessly helped us connect with the locals. Highly recommended!
