Tikal Mayan Adventure - 1 Day Tour

The day started off with an early morning 5 am pick up. It took us about 2.5 hours to get to the border where we met with our tour guide Reyes. Our driver and Reyes assisted us through immigration which was very easy. From the border, Reyes drove us about another 1.5 hours to Tikal where he filled us in with the plan for the day and gave some history of Guatemala and Tikal. We spent about 4 hours at Tikal and walked a little over 4 miles. It’s a huge complex and absolutely beautiful. There are some spectacular views once you get to the top of some of the pyramids. There are wooden staircases to help you get to the top. Reyes is a fantastic guide who fills you in with history of the Mayans while you meander through Tikal. If you’re staying in Belize, I highly recommend this tour!!

Our driver Edward picked us up from our hotel at 5am for the two hour drive to the Guatamala border. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. At the border we were met by our new guide and driver Levi and Cash who drove us over two hours to arrive in Tikal. Levi was a great guide and very patient with us seniors who were challenged by climbing some of the steps. We had a great lunch afterwards at a very nice restaurant in Guatamala. Highly recommend even though it was a 15 hour day.

My husband and I took a tour to Tikal. Edgar was our van driver to get us to the boarder. I can’t even began to say how incredible Edgar was! From the moment he picked us up until he safely returned us home. Edgar was amazing! Sharing stories, history and memories from all over Belize! He truly made the trip unforgettable We were even lucky enough to cross paths with him again on a solo adventure we were on! He remembered us and was so happy. Belize is very lucky to have this man as a tour guide :)

We had a great time , the guide was very informative and had great knowledge of the Mayan culture. The meal was very delicious . Overall the organization of this trip was perfect. Only one complaint… no one responded to my questions. Plz keep the Communication open.

Amazing day. It was a long day, but worth it. RJ took care of all the transfers, border crossing, guides, beginning to end—worry free. Mario was our guide through Tikal which was unbelievable. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and took great care of us. Would recommend to anyone.

My family recently took the full day tour from Hopkins to Tikal. Despite taking about 15 hours we had an amazing experience. Our guides, Rickie in Belize and Ronald in Guatemala, were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional and told us many interesting facts throughout the day. Ronald was amazing at spotting all the wildlife in Guatemala, and without his expert eye we wouldn’t have seen so many spider monkeys, toucans, tarantulas, coatis, and even some jabiru storks! Tikal is a truly unique site, set in the middle of the forest, and the memories of our trip will live with us forever. Thank you Rickie and Ronald for an unforgettable experience.

We used Untame Tours for our day trip to Tikal from Dangriga and it was an amazing tour. Hamerlin was easy to email back and forth with questions and making alternative arrangements for the journey to be one way. Edgar picked us up in the morning at 5am and we had a great trip to the border. He was passionate and knowledgeable about Belize and he was very professional in his service. A friendly face for that time of the morning. Reyes was our tour guide to Tikal who went absolutely above and beyond. An incredible day visiting the Mayan ruins and also great first hand experiences of Guatemalan culture. Throughout we felt safe, had a fun time and left feeling filled with knowledge and insights about everything from Dangriga to Flores including Tikal It may be more expensive than most tours but the intimacy made the experience so much better. Would put high on our list of recommendations.

Amazing travel experience to Tikal from Placencia. We were picked up at our resort for an exciting all day event of a life time to Tikal in Guatemala. Our day started at 5:20AM, we chatted about Belize as we watched the sun come up. By the time we reached the Guatemala border we were all friends. Edgar was our driver and demonstrated how proud he was to answer all of our questions and share stories of his life too. Hammerlin supervised the entire day, getting us through immigration and customs at the Guatemala border both ways. He showed us where to exchange some currency and introduced us to our Tikal guide. It’s common to leave one vehicle at the border so our guide drove us the rest of the way. Hammerlin hired a superb guide named Reyes. Attentive and knowledgeable about Tikal, Mayans, and the jungle! We were thrilled, every question was answered with enthusiasm and detail. Reyes not only answered our questions but taught us about the architecture, anthropology, and the history of the Mayans. Hammerlin made a great choice selecting our guide! As our long day was coming to an end, Jimmy drove us back to our Placencia resort. There is an unbelievable amount of pride talking to locals about Belize. Jimmy was no exception! Thank you Hammerlin for organizing the greatest tour we have ever been on. Jimmy was our tour guide and he was nothing but amazing the entire day. I was spending my honeymoon in Belize and we decided to book a last minute tour to Tikal. The pickup was at 5am from our hotel and lasted the entire day. Jimmy took us all the way to the border and even went to Guatemala with us and the Guatamalan tour guide as well. This little thing made my husband and I feel super comfortable. Jimmy gave us an in depth history of the Mayans and was very knowledgeable about the area. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is on the fence! Do it!
