Tijuana and Tadeo

Tadeo was a fabulous and well informed guide. He took great care of our party and gave thoughtful answers to all of our questions. He went above and beyond to highlight Tijuana’s unique charm and to make us feel welcome. He was well connected with the local community, which enhanced our experience and appreciation of the city. We have great memories of our trip and Tadeo was a large part of that.

Fun walk tour

Another way to visit Mexico but the experience it’s not as rich as Cancun, Riviera Maya and Tulum. I was emailing the agent to ask about our group picture but no response at all, I even message them on WhatsApp, nothing, called them, called them voicemail is full, always. We were supposed to cut short our journey because we have whale watching booked at Dana point but we ditched it , we enjoyed the walk, Tadeo was nice, he is a fun tour guide. Entering Mexico was easy but The line up exiting Mexico was long, we waited 2.5 hours, so be ready.

Do NOT book!

If I could rate it a zero, I would. Got there an hour early and walked around. Went to the meet up spot 30 min before as instructed and no one was there. Messaged the guide 15 minutes before to ask who we should be looking for and got no response. Subsequently, I messaged through the Viator app, I texted the number they provided in their message, I messaged on WhatsApp, and no response on any of the 3 platforms. I called on all 3 as well and couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Called Viator and they couldn’t get a hold of the guide(s) or tour company either. Poor communication and planning. Would not recommend. Don’t waste your time or money.

Operator response

We try to contact the register phone number an no one answer. Because there was no one answer and it was booked on the inside of the 24 hours cutoff time we are proceeding with full refund. please try to register a phone number we can contact thru WhatsApp wish is easier to contact at the international border.

Wonderful tour

I had an amazing tour with Tadeo. A super friendly and welcoming guy! He had a lot to tell, and made me feel pretty safe. The part you walk to Tijuana can maybe feel a little overwhelming if you're not used to travelling in Latinamerica but the experience was pretty safe! Had some good food, nice tequila tasting and saw some souvenir stores! Another woman was doing a solo trip as well, so it was super private and felt very close/real just as if we were walking around with a friend showing us his hometown. Would recommend if you don't know where to go in Tijuana (or if you wanna go solo but feel a little unsure!)

Mom & Daughter day in Tijuana

A lot of people told me it was a very bad idea to go into Tijuana, especially with my teenage daughter. I am glad I didn’t listen to them because we had a great day with no problems. I am however very glad we did a tour, we would have been lost on our own, and definitely stood out as tourists. We had two guides for this trip. Tabitha met us on the US side, she called to confirm our reservations & took us across the pedestrian crossing. In Mexico, Tadeo met us, got a cab (van) to take us all to the city center and showed us all the sites: buildings, museum, cathedral, markets, etc. He was very knowledgeable and shared interesting information. We also had lunch (YUM) and a tequila tasting (I didn’t do that but others in our group enjoyed it). We had time at the end for souvenir shopping before Tadeo took us back to the line to cross into the US. Tijuana is like any big city, you should be aware of your surroundings and stay in certain areas, but it is a colorful fun place, and not the dangerous chaos the news might portray. I would definitely recommend going on a tour, and if you are lucky enough to get Tadeo as a guide I promise you’ll have a great experience!

Tijuana Walking Tour/Border Cross

Hello! I attended this tour on March 31, 2026 with Tabitha. I have wanted to walk across the border for years. I was finally able to mark it off my bucket list. I learned so much about Tijuana that I did not know, specifically that the Caesar salad was invented in Tijuana by an Italian man. The restaurant is still there which includes a hotel. The people of Tijuana were friendly and kind. There were several vendors and a beautiful church in the center of town. I plan to return to Tijuana again in the future. Thank you so much for the tour!!!
