Description

We visit the less touristy hoods around the Jean-Market on our food tour. From a single mom-no-pop shop we learn about our Latino community and sit down at a Salvadoran neighbourhood joint where locals go. We learn about the different communities that make up the area and pop into Little Italy for an iconic bakery when open. The Jean-Talon market is the largest of its kind in the country. We try goat cheeses that are so farm to table they remind us of that scene from Portlandia. We visit a spice den, point out other great vendors, try some of the best charcuteries in the province as well as a few surprises like a forager and more depending on the season! You’ll want to go back to the market after the tour. In Little Italy we explore the streets and area, sip third wave joe and learn about our progressive coffee scene. We head to a bean to bar award winning chocolate “factory” that will showcase some of the best stuff Montréal has to offer, period. 100% locally run, licensed guides!

Venture beyond poutine

Pasqual, led us on a delicious adventure to try foods offered by small, independent, food producers. The pupusas made by a woman from Salvador; the authentic Italian cannolis; the unique handmade chocolates; the maple smoked salmon and so much more were all delicious and such wonderful gems! This is a must try tour if you want to venture beyond poutine, bagels and smoked meats!!

Venture beyond poutine

Pasquale, our guide, was the best. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, as well as, passionate about the places visited on our tour. We were introduced to so many great gems that were independently owned. We tried Salvadoran pupusas, Italian cannolis, Vermont goat cheese, charcuterie meats, chocolates and more!!! This is a must try tour if you want to go beyond smoked meats and poutine.

A must do when visiting Montreal for the first time!

Danny did our tour (the owner of Spade and Palacio) and we could not stop raving about the tour and our experience doing this walking/food tour. Danny was not only funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and kind, but he showed us a side of Montreal that we never would have seen otherwise. He has created such a special experience where you truly understand how intertwined the communities are and get to meet the artisans themselves. I won't spoil the stops, but we met multiple small business owners and tried their foods. Each stop was different- a few sit down restaurants, a food market with stalls, a beverage stop, a quick bakery snack, and a boutique dessert store. We did a food tour the following day with a different company and the experience was night and day. If you want to really learn about Montreal and taste amazing food made by people who live and work in the city, not just in the touristy areas, this is the tour for you. The amount of walking was super reasonable, with a relaxed pace, so anyone can participate easily. We'll recommend this company to any friend going to Montreal or Philly!

Take this tour! You won't regret it.

This was a fun food tour. We enjoyed treats from many off the beaten path spots. We learned about Montreal's many unique neighbors and cultural hubs. While we ate a lot of delicious food, we did not walk away stuffed. Taking the tour piqued our interest in trying places that we would have otherwise missed.

Beautiful, enriching afternoon

We had a really beautiful afternoon with Raphaël, who introduced us to plenty of great counters and restaurants in our city. We tasted a multitude of fresh products. He knew the neighborhood very well and was able to teach us about the history and culture that surrounded us. He was very friendly and great company.
